Hey guys,
Unfortunately, I am very busy work-wise at the moment and therefore have to withdraw my participation.
I will closely follow the matches on YouTube though and wish all competitors fun and triumph!
I'm looking forward to see some new exciting books to take full effect and I hope that this tourney will boost the community like it did in the past!
All the best, Parkdeck

I would say if there is no publisher even for the country with the biggest tournaments, mage wars in general has a problem..

General Discussion / Re: Can OCTGN work on a MacBook?
« on: May 22, 2017, 02:50:02 PM »
I ran windows on apple computers for years without any problems. Bootcamp lets you install it and provides all drivers. You just have to choose how much percent windows should be (you dont have to format the drive, bootcamp manages to maintain your osx plus data), bootcamp prepares the windows partition (format, UEFI and stuff), ive never had problems with that.
You can buy a Windows 7 Pro licence for 10$ and upgrade to Windows 10.
So you are 10$ and an afternoon of installations away from Mage Wars :)

1. buy that macbook
2. install windows (besides osx)
3. boot windows
4. install octgn
5. get into the arena
where is the problem?

hei guys,
a month ago I offered coshade to drop out of the tourney since i had a high workload at that time and didnt want to slow things down. Then octgn went on vacations for a few weeks. But it's on again and nothing happens since then. Biblo writes summaries on the tourney as if it was over.
So first I would love to see the last matches since we all put a lot of effort/brain/time in it and second it's a bit unsatisfactory to know that stepping back was completely unnecessary.
best, parkdeck

Strategy and Tactics / To give or to keep first initiative
« on: March 19, 2017, 09:14:25 AM »
Some short notes on this "first initiative" thing:
When I started the game I thought the higher effect die wins and gets first initiative: "Horray, I can start first!"
Then came a longer period where it was clear to give first ini if you win it to be able to see what the opponent does in R1 and to be able to react on that: "Always give first ini except you planned something special where you have to have ini in round x"
At the moment I tend to keep first ini for the following reasons:
Most of the times I stick to my planned first round anyway (based on my main strategy and biased by the opponents choice of mage). Often, the choice of mage implies more than his play in R1 (polemic: the info that it is a necro has more value than knowing that somebody plays a crystal in R1)
Even faster decks often start with something "uncertain" like flower + Wynchwood faery (e.g. the nasty Beastmaster by s3chaos), so if its not a super fast deck it often still can lead anywhere after R1. So if he starts action in R2 after minimal economy in R1 I like to have the info right there to be able to react on that. If he continues building up in R2 I can assume that he will play slow(er).
Therefore, the information advatage in round two has often more value than in round one. Completely excluding timed rush decks (on both sides) of course.
To quote some young mage who thinks about paladin openings all day: "Any thoughts?"

Where is this love tournament happening? And what are the rules exactly? Healing charm for everybody?
