Still no players? Here's hoping that op can draw them out.

Still looking for a time frame on when op is going to start. I am itching to get playing this game and am hoping op will get people in my area who have bought the game to come out and play. Since my posts looking for players on multiple websites have not been responded to. I even bought my friend who was into mtg a copy of this game.

Spellbook Design and Construction / Re: Online spell book builder?
« on: October 10, 2012, 08:39:44 PM »
Agree.. proxies won't hurt this game and they solve problems here at the beginning to fill in gaps. That sort of openness on the part of the publisher will serve to help build the community.

And so will an online database. People want to create spellbooks... they want to play around with ideas and try different builds and without electronic help its kind of a PITA.

People will eventually build fan sites and spellbook calculators and such, but it would be easier with files for the cards and components.

I asked this about a week ago... the consensus was that the stat bar is not a limit to those stats.

Rules Discussion / Defense vs. Explode Damage?
« on: October 07, 2012, 07:40:14 PM »
Is a defense useable against the attack dice rolled as part of the Explode spell?

I'm assuming it is. . .  but I wasn't certain. Also, the attack bar on Explode doesn't indicate if the attack is either melee or ranged and excluded from certain defenses as such.

We played this as the attack being affected by any defense ability successfully rolled. Is this correct?

Mages / Re: Mages that you would like to see in the game

Time Mage-  no idea how this one would play but i love the idea.

Madman with a box! Doctor Who style Time Lord!

Could cast a Police Box as equipment and teleport to any zone and remain off the board (like banish) for a certain number of rounds and get a complete life/mana regen. LOL

Also, what about a Hedge Wizard... Can use spells from any school... level 1 spells would be at regular cost, level two spells would cost regular cost plus 1, level 3 spells would cost double +2 and anything higher would be triple +3

Mage ability: This mage chooses one spell-type which can then be cast at a cost of one less mana per spell.

Strategy and Tactics / Wizard vs. Priestess...
« on: October 04, 2012, 05:04:00 PM »
So my next game looks to be me as Wizard vs. Priestess. I'd love some thoughts/ideas on initial strategy, opening moves and spell type priorities. I've played a full game with the Priestess and won, I've played an apprentice game with the Wizard and lost.  Thanks!

Would love to hear more about this as I am about to play a Wizard for the first time vs. a Priestess. I was wondering how a creatureless build would work. I've noticed some cards (e.g. Mordok's Obelisk) that would seem to favor it.

Please elaborate... :)

Rules Discussion / Unavoidable and damage type -2
« on: October 04, 2012, 05:43:14 AM »
So played a game last night and I had an elemental cloak on. Well my oponent casts a zone fire spell that said unavoidable. He contended that unavoidable said defenses could not be used so my -2 fire wasn't applicable. I contested that since unavoidable said defenses and referenced a particular page that it meant just that defense p28.

A third person ruled in my opponents favor and thus we went with him which resulted in my mage being killed. I still contest that I was correct. I kinda wish they used the keyword dodge, instead of defense in this case. Defense is very broad term that could be interpreted as meaning armor or this damage type -2.

Who was correct?

Spells / Re: Your Favorite Creature Spells

Playing the Priestess I found the Knight of Westlock to be quite good for the mana. He has solid baseline health and armor, and a good attack of 5 dice plus an 8+ defense. Amp him up with more armor from Crown of Protection, and extra dice from Bear Strength and pair him with a Royal Archer and you've got a solid flexible defense against other creatures. . Especially the Beastmaster.  Later, add Brogan and stir!

Rules Discussion / Life/Mana limited to stat board max?
« on: October 02, 2012, 10:31:47 PM »
In my recent game playing the Priestess my life reached the end of the chart... 41 I think. Had I gone over that would my max life exceed the stat board or are life and/or mana capped by the stat board?
