General Questions / Re: Ring of Beasts and Spawnpoints

That is correct.

If the spell is cast by the spawnpoint, you do not get the discount from the Ring of Beasts.

General Questions / Re: Can Jinx counter Seeking Dispel?
« on: September 27, 2012, 08:37:30 PM »
Scarob,

The important thing to remember is that Jinx cannot be revealed. If it cannot be revealed, it cannot be resolved. Face down enchantments have no effect on the game.

Hope you get your copy soon, so that you can join in the fun!!

Strategy and Tactics / Re: Defeating the swarm?
« on: September 12, 2012, 07:58:16 PM »
You are right.

The Priestess does not have the arsenal of the Warlock, but she can be an effective offensive force. What she lacks in sheer power she can make up for in staying power. Her healing and protection spells allow her to hamper the enemy and stay in the fight, while she wears down her opponent.

Add in an Angel and some other support creatures/conjurations, and she might surprise you.

Spellbook Design and Construction / Re: Warlock build
« on: September 12, 2012, 07:36:19 PM »
Fyst is correct.

You cannot stack Bear Strengths, but there's nothing stopping you from combining Bear Strength with the Gauntlets of Strength and/or any of the Elemental rings.

You could build the following Warlock:
Lash of Hellfire: 4 Dice
Gauntlets o' Str: +1D
Bear Strength: +2D
Fireshaper Ring: +1D
Warlock's Ability: +1D
TOTAL :     9 Dice/Attack

That's not too bad.

One final word on stacking: The general rule on stacking is that if there's a +/- sign in front of the number, the trait will stack. If not, then it won't.

This rule of thumb is not perfect, but it's a good place to start.

Spellbook Design and Construction / Re: wizard mana drain spell book

If you are patient, it's a great strategy.

However, you are right. It makes for a long game, which means you might have a hard time getting friends to play against you.  :P

Don't be afraid to post your build and discuss some specifics.

General Discussion / Re: Finally got some games in

Awesome! Sounds like you've got it down!  ;)

The movement aspect is easily  overlooked, but can mean the difference between winning and losing.

Strategy and Tactics / Re: Defeating the swarm?
« on: September 11, 2012, 08:52:35 PM »
Sean brings up a good point. Be aggressive.

The swarm is powerful, but slow. Time is what the swarm needs to build it's advantage. All those creatures come into play exhausted, i.e. a turn behind, whereas direct attacks happen now and on the next turn.

AoE attacks take out most swarm creatures in 1 or 2 turns.

Finally, the bottleneck strategy can work, if the other player is impatient and sends his creatures in one at a time. However, if he's patient, then you are just giving him the time he needs to grow the swarm, so be careful with that strategy.

Rules Discussion / Re: Gate to Voltari
« on: September 11, 2012, 02:15:20 PM »
Klaxas and Tllmdjd are correct.

Any ability on a card, such as Crown of Protection, Staff of Beast, "as a quick spell" counts as a spell cast for the purposes of Gate to Voltari. Also, you may use the Quickcast Action to activate either of these abilities.

Reinfire13, you are also correct that Spawnpoints' and Familiars' spells do not count towards the Gate, but the spells bound to either of the Wands would create mana for the Gate.

Rules Discussion / Re: Casting Spells with the lightning bolt icon
« on: September 06, 2012, 11:32:00 PM »
Klaxas is correct. There is currently no way to move and cast a full spell as part of a normal set of actions.

Your Mage may:
Full Spell + Quick Spell
(Move) Quick Spell + Quick Spell
(Move) Quick Action + Quick Spell
Full Action + Quick Spell

Movement is optional on the two middle items.

Hey Ray,

Thanks a lot for your interest in the game. We are as excited as you to get this game out to everybody interested.

We don't have an official release date for Australia. However, if you order it here on the website, we have some copies that we can ship internationally.

The online store is not equipped to automatically calculate the shipping, but if you email us at customerservice@arcanewonders.com, I am sure we can work out the details.

Let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Thomas Huzl

General Questions / Re: Counter strike and upkeep
« on: August 27, 2012, 10:10:41 PM »
Question 1 is under discussion. We will have an answer shortly. Sorry for the delay.

Question 2. Yes. All traits (even those granted by an Enchantment) remain in effect while the creature is "banished." The "banished" creature is considered in play, but not in the arena.

I think Mestrahd's been eavesdropping on our design meetings.

His explanation is spot on.

« on: August 27, 2012, 09:49:38 PM »
You're in luck.

The bulk of the design team is here in DFW. We will be working to get organized play up and running in this area as soon as the game is available to retailers.

If you would like to help run events or work with stores, let us know. We may be able to use you.
