I'm in Bowling Green, KY! About an hour and a half drive. I was just in Louisville last weekend, too!

Spells / Re: Enchanter's Ring and Steal Enchantment
« on: January 10, 2016, 01:14:43 PM »
I'm not sure I completely understand the argument... but I'll just accept the "no." Thanks.

Maybe I can help make it a little more clear, though what Kaarin said is correct. The Enchanter's Ring discounts an enchantment when your Mage casts the spell. Steal Enchantment says in the first line that you are MOVING the enchantment, not casting it. Like Kaarin said, the "as if you were casting and revealing" part is only referring to the cost calculation for X.

Alternative Play / Academy cards, Arena board?
« on: January 06, 2016, 10:33:50 AM »
Has anyone tried to use Academy only cards/mages on an arena board? Are there any problems that you see arising from this or could this be a way to introduce the tactical movement of Arena while keeping the smaller spell book and life points of academy? Maybe even use only half of the board like in Apprentice mode?

Spells / Re: Poll: Cheetah Speed vs Mongoose Agility
« on: November 20, 2015, 09:16:40 AM »
Mongoose Agility for sure. I would like Cheetah Speed a bit more if it allowed Slow creatures to move two unhindered spaces and still get the quick action instead of just giving it normal movement. But Mongoose Agility is more all around practical in most situations. I like to use Cheetah Speed as more of an end game if the Mage is trying to run away and I can close distance for a final Hurl Meteor/Boulder.

General Discussion / Re: Mind Spawnpoint

I've always imagine thoughtspores as literally appearing as a huge fleshy pimple on the top of the mages head and it slowly grows until it pops off (and takes a spell with it) and flies off on its own. I imagine a spawnpoint would be equally as disgusting :D

Hahaha. I'm picturing a Forcemaster/Garbage Pail Kids crossover card.

I thought so, too. I was just wondering what such a card would look like!

Laddinfance,

Maybe we could get an update where you are currently with all of these ideas? I think it would benefit everyone to keep the discussion a bit more focused and to know your ideas to go off of since you have a bigger role in its creation. And for those newer to the forum (such as myself) it gives us a place to start instead of looking back through the ten page thread. Lol.

General Discussion / Mind Spawnpoint
« on: November 11, 2015, 11:39:35 AM »
ive been wondering for a little while what a spawn point for the force master would look like and I've got a couple ideas I'd like to throw out to see if anything sticks. (I'm attempting to make my Psylock swarm more viable.)

The idea I had would be to make the spawn point an equipment item for the force master (also an equipment/conjuration fusion crossed my mind, though how exactly that would work I'm not sure or if any cards like that are possible for MW.). Equipment could be a helmet (possibly autonomous to leave room for a psi orb?) or something that would focus the energy from the mages mind magic (it could have an ability such as "add 1 mana for every force spell you cast"). or an autonomous conjuration that was a copy of the mages brain that was floating alongside the Mage?

Just curious to know if the mind school or the force master would ever see a spawn point so I can go into a tournament and win it all with my Psylock swarm!

General Discussion / Re: Arena core set mages vs Hogwarts houses
« on: November 04, 2015, 01:04:39 PM »
Without thinking about it too much, I agree with you, though I'd like you to give reasons why for each, especially between the Gryffindor/Hufflepuff match ups (I believe the other two are fairly obvious.). For me I see the Beastmaster being associated with Gryffindor because they both have the attributes of fiercely protecting the things they love and stand for (Harry with his friends, Beastmasters with Straywood/Johktari.) I don't remember much about Hufflepuff (I believe Cedric was Hufflepuff? Correct me if I'm wrong.), but Cedric's noble sacrifice seems pretty in line with Preistess.

I apologize for all my incorrect Harry Potter references, it's been awhile.  :P

First off, I haven't read the entire post, so I'm sorry if this has already been touched on, but would it be possible to make the "dream eater" nightmare have the ability to cast the spell Sleep exactly as the rules would apply on the card itself, rather than the normal "this creature can cast (school of magic) spells"? This creature would probably be a familiar and generate its own mana. It would also have a full action arena attack where every sleeping creature in the arena takes two direct damage? Or maybe higher level creature would take 1 die of damage, so at the worst roll it would be the same damage, but also a chance to not take damage as well. Haven't thought of balance entirely, but just an idea.
