Sailor Vulcan,

Apologies about the area misunderstanding. I've just always heard of this area between Columbus and Cleveland as "Central OH". Didn't mean to cause confusion heh

Silverclaw Grizzly,

Thanks kindly, please do! I've actually been building the community for about 2.5 years now. Just real life has had many many stumbling blocks over the same period, so it happened in spurts and I wasn't able to fully commit to running regular events (and I had 2 other events I was running at the time also, so just bad timing)

It's also why I don't post here enough heh. I read often though!

But yes I'm very optimistic about our playgroup despite our location. I look forward to seeing it grow.
If nothing else, someone to come beat Kyle and his stupid Necromancer =p
As a Warlock player, I HATE Necromancers heh

Cheers guys

Events / Bi-Weekly Mage Wars Tournaments in Central OH!
« on: July 30, 2016, 11:05:25 PM »
Heya folks,

Been wanting to set this up for a long time, and that darn real life kept getting in the way, but we're finally rocking and rolling.

Every other Friday (August 12th is our next event) I'll be hosting a Mage Wars Arena Tournament at

Heroes Haven Games & Collectibles
1277 Lexington Ave
Mansfield OH 44907

EDIT --- We have an official Facebook Group for Central OH covering Columbus to Mansfield (though anyone who can attend ever is welcome to join) so we can get schedule and attendance up in both cities. It's been growing slow and steady, and I'd really like to get some BIG events going over the next year. Specifically, I want there to be an OH Championship. I will make this happen. Get added today!

https://www.facebook.com/groups/675109955982361/

Setup is at around 6pm, play starts between 6:30-7pm

$5 Entry, comes with promo card, winners will receive variety of prizes based on attendance. Extra promos, dice, posters, other swag I can dig up, store credit, all kinds of goodies.

We have a pretty decent playerbase considering we're kind of in the middle of nowhere, and most of our players are newish but loving the game regardless. Hoping to build a large regular community here, and to be hosting some larger Championship level events in the future.

Recent event had 6 in attendance (and work changes actually took 5 players from us last minute, blah!) so odds are looking good for some larger scale events!

Please find us on Facebook under Heroes Haven Games & Collectibles for event postings and questions, or PM me here, or call the shop at 419-709-8919 and ask for Justin.

Anyone traveling far for an event, please let me know ahead of time, and we'll try and adjust the time so you can attend.

Possible Domination and Academy events in the future

Hope to see ya guys!

Cheers

Justin

Rules Discussion / Re: Multiple Counterstrike effects?
« on: July 30, 2016, 03:54:38 PM »
What everyone replied with sounds correct to me.

A similar example I can think of is Helm of Fear for the Warlock. It's technically a defensive roll, but it never SAYS it's a defensive roll. It just works like one. So because it isn't labeled as such, I can always try to Helm of Fear, then if that fails, use a Defense item/Enchant roll on the same attack. (Rules state only 1 Defense roll per attack)
So the cloak and chestplate work in the same manner. It's faking a Damage barrier without being one, letting everything work!

Well shucks. Makes those silly 5+ infinite evade guys even more annoying. Just wanted to confirm due to the similarities with Stun

Thanks folks

Rules Discussion / Stagger / Defense Question
« on: July 14, 2016, 05:16:46 PM »
So ran a demo for a new fan last night, and a very simple but good question came up I could not find the answer too.

I hit his Asp with Dazzle, Staggering it. It's a minor creature so now it can't take an action. It is effectively a "Stun" as per the main game by my understanding. It just never says this outright.

So if I attack the Staggered snake, can he use his Defense roll?
With a Stun he can't, but Stagger never explicitly says. I don't see why it wouldn't and make sense, but a clarification would be most welcome.

Thanks!

Well the Tournament was a big hit! We had 11 players total, 8 able to stay for the full event, and nearly everyone had a blast! Also raised just over $200!

Thank you to everyone who came out or tried to attend, I'll have pictures and info from the event sent in later for posting.

Even though it was just Apprentice Mode, for those curious

We had 2 Mages, 2 Warlocks, 2 Beastmaster, 2 Priestess (all rolled random, so was nice seeing 2 of each)

Wizard took 1st 4-0
Priestess took 2nd (3-2)
Priestess took 3rd (3-1)
Warlock took 4th (4-2)

To explain the weird scores, we had a Losers Bracket, winner of that would get back in to try again at the very end. The Warlock lost the 1st game, and then crushed EVERYONE in the losers bracket but then couldn't finish off the Priestess. It was a helluva come back though, he was tearing up everyone. We also had 1 person had to go early, so we had the Warlock player fill in for someone else)

Was a blast, and made several new fans, and more Mages for the Arena is always good!

Cheers!

That'd be awesome if ya can make it sir, be good to see ya again, and ya can keep me from forgetting what Incapacitated Mages can and can't do again heh

9
Ah apologies, wasn't meant to be unclear. Everyone out here just calls this Central OH heh. It's a bit boonies up here to be sure.

Were about an hour North of Columbus and a bit over an hour South of Cleveland / Toledo
