Supposedly one last update before converting to Mage Wars 2.0. I don't have faith in either thing ever being released.

General Discussion / Re: Card Contest - Week 3

Level 5 creatures should probably be between 15-18 cost to cast based on the other creatures in the game. The 3 angels at 21 never get played because they are a bit overcosted. Alandell is another level 5 Holy and he's only 15 and gets a lot more play. I'd cost the angels at 17 or 18 probably.

The first war based creature should be around 14 if it's a level 4. Basically a war version of Brogan or Westlock Knight.

Based on the votes, is it possible to make a card Dark or Holy and then also additionally Fire? I know we have a few cards that are ORs for the 4 elements but I'm not sure if I've ever seen a card that has both OR and AND. It feels like the angel should be that.

I still think Holy should have decent access to that card...maybe Fire/Dark or Holy/Dark. The angel motif is strong and I'd actually be interested in an art piece if they were to ever do art of all the level 5 angels, if this was included.

Art's too centered on the creatures to not make them creatures.

For the first, I'd go Dark/War...like a Death Knight type thing from D&D.

For the second, I'd go Holy/Fire...I know the level 5 angels don't get a lot of play but you already have a lightning, air, and light so I'd go with something like Righteous Angel.

General Discussion / Re: Promo card?

The image is really small, so I can't be positive, but I believe it was from a Kickstarter Campaign cross-promotion where 2 characters/cards from another game were put into Mage Wars and 2 characters/creatures from mage Wars were put into their game. I want to say Level 99 Games maybe, which ya know, looking at the number you put down would make a lot of sense. I want to say the Mouse Creature was the other one, but also not positive.

Things are going badly. I'm blown away that you think there is any chance of having any sort of event before May at the earliest and that's even pushing.

At this point, all we have is speculation.

I predict this is all we have for at least a year if not more.

If you want clarification, Mage Wars as supported by Arcane Wonders is dead. The game can still be played, enjoyed, and even advanced via fan involvement, but until the company does something to prove otherwise, people need to stop hoping for growth of the game on a corporate level.

Yes, product was released in 2019...Product that was finished in 2017. Their own website about Mage Wars hasn't been updated in YEARS. Stop with the bs excuse that they made a mistake back in 2015/2016 about talking about all their plans and not coming through on them when they said they would. They got in bed with Dice Tower. Dice Tower games make them more money. It's that damn simple. Mage Wars is dead until I hear it from someone actually working for the company and not their online yes men.

Spellbook Design and Construction / Re: Priest - first draft

As a priest, I think you absolutely need at least 2 Lvl 2 creatures to take advantage of Holy Avenger. While it's not the best ability in the game it does have its uses and is way too expensive as a 9 channeling mage to throw onto any of the Lvl 3 creatures you can put into the book. Avenger becomes very useful if you are using the Breastplate to guard after your action. LoD, WCK, Helm Knight are all very good options to use as a protection buddy.

If you plan on attacking with the Priest, you definitely want to keep the Staff and I'd almost suggest a second or even more ways to protect it. I probably would dump Cass in this book or find a way to get a few other 2nd level creatures in the book to take whatever advantage you can get out of Holy Avenger. Asyra's Touch could be useful for anything you use as a Holy Avenger. Healing Madrigal, more Eye for an Eye, and even a Circle of Light could be interesting things to add.

You have 80 minutes to do damage and kill the other mage, if you're not close to doing it in that time, you shouldn't win. I don't care what cards are in your book or what the board looks like at this point. If you've done 0 damage in 80 minutes, you shouldn't win. If I have you 5 away from death and I'm 30 away from death after 80 minutes, you shouldn't win. But that's just me.

I don't recall people saying it couldn't be done. I just don't think it's the best way to judge a game. Even talking to the players won't give you a complete idea how the game would play out. This becomes very subjective to the judges playstyles and how they think a game would go. They might be right a majority of the time, but it's not an absolute. Life remaining still remains the best way to judge a tie to me.

Not official, but I believe this was discussed on the discord. If you have any level in a school for a creature, you are considered a creature of that school. It's why you can summon a Holy 1/Mind 2 creature through a Holy Spawnpoint and thus why these creatures would cost base if you are specifically trained in a creature type. Holy being a type in this case.
