It is all explained in the article. You just need to read it.

Wildhorn - true, the article uses the example of Leather Gloves, but the token reads "Armor +1" and there are plenty of other effects that give armour +1 without requiring it to be linked to another source of armour. It seemed worth clarifying whether the author just used the Leather Gloves as an example for simplicity or whether the rules required it.

sIKE - thanks! That clears it up nicely.

The questions I have are around whether there are limitations around what sort of equipment you can put your runes on.

For example The Rune of Precision looks like it only works with weapons/equipment with an inherent attack. That seems pretty straightforward, adding precise to something that doesn't roll attack dice would be fairly pointless.

But does The Rune of Fortification only work if the equipment already grants armour?  Or could you put it on your Eagle-claw boots?

Jk_selwyn - no worries I left it a bit late as I wasn't sure if I would make it. Mid-March would probably work (but might depend the exact date)

Polylux1 - it would be good to play a game of Mage Wars. I think last time I went along around 1ish, and had time to play a game and chat to people. Everyone seemed very nice, although they were all playing other games. I'm thinking I'll head along at the same sortof time this Sunday and then play it by ear. If you're definitely coming, let me know when and I'll make sure I'm free.

Hi jk_selwyn are you up for playing another game of Mage Wars this weekend?

Anyone also interested in coming along too?

Thanks for suggesting the Mad Hatter jk_selwyn!  It was a good place to play, plus all the others playing games there seemed really nice.

Good game too. I look forward to our rematch! I've no idea when they are next having a board game meet, do you know where it is announced?

Hi DeckBuilder, I'm happy to test possible next set cards. I'd like play a bit of normal Mage Wars too, but should be able to fit some playtesting in.

What time are others planning to get there? I'm probably going to pop along to the Sunday Assembly in the morning, so should be there around 1ish.

Hey guys, hope you all had nice Christmas's. Are people still on for meeting up to play some Mage Wars at the Mad Hatter this Sunday?

I'm good to come, and I'm assuming jk_selwyn is still planning to go, any other takers?

The Mad Hatter sounds like a good shout if they are happy with an invasion of people playing games. Though I've never been myself.

@DeckBuilder I played Lords of War and Tash-Kalar at Dragonmeet and had really different reactions. To me neither of them were that similar to Mage Wars, and I enjoyed both. Lords of War was a tight little tactical game that felt like there could be some hidden depths around tricking your opponent into certain placements. Tash-Kalar was interesting because of the shifting ebb and flow it had, and in particular that felt like there could be a lot more going on once you'd got used to the basics.

Neither were as flavoursome or thematic as Mage Wars, but both felt tighter and more focused to me, and just different experiences. Different opinions Yeah!

Anyway, back to discussing meeting up. I'll throw the first weekend out there as a possibility, Sunday 5th?
Hopefully that misses people's Christmas plans, but isn't so far away everyone (me) forgets!

Yes, I am keen to play more mage wars. Shall we plan a time in January since December from here on is subsumed by Christmas.

@DeckBuilder - I was there. Totally forgot to bring mage wars stuff though. Didn't see any sign of it either though, did you make any converts?

Hey, I'm based in London and like playing Mage Wars. Plus I know a few guys from just north of London who like to play.

Unfortunately I've already got plans for the 30th, so won't be able to make it along, but it would be good to get involved if there's another one!

Great, thanks for the clarification. I think I must have been going from the rules in the first version of the rule book.

Spells / Re: Jet Stream

Hi, sorry to bring this thread back to life again, but I wanted to make sure I totally understood what the legal pushes from a jet stream (and other spells that limit your choice of push direction) are. It's come up a number of times in games and I want to make sure I'm entitled to those extra 3 dice if I'm using them.

The question I have is whether it is legal to push a creature into the wall, to get a wall bash, with the effect of jet stream, when there are other directions that would result in the creature moving one zone away.

An example: Suppose the target of jet stream is in the middle zone of a short board edge, my mage is in the close centre zone and the effect die comes up with a push, can I choose to push the creature into the wall rather than one of the corners even though the creature doesn't actually end up further away?
