I know this topic has been covered multiple times, and is explained decently in FAQs etc, but I'm confused.

I and my friends took a short break from Mage Wars (school work and such), and when we came back to it we couldn't remember how it worked!!! I'm also overthinking it, so I'm just going to try and get a definitive answer because I'm tired of reading too much into stuff.

Bear Strength Awards Melee+2, but rules also indicate that this bonus only applies to the first attack in a turn.

Questions:
1) Are "attacks" and "strikes" different? Would Bear Strength award "Doublestrike" the bonus for "both strikes", or is this considered "two attacks".

2) If the above is true, what about other stuff like Incantations awarding Piercing+1 to multiple strikes etc.

3) If number 1 isn't true, what if someone with double/triplestrike is standing in the Archer's Watchtower? Does this mean that Ranged+1 only applies to the first strike (that it can be applied)? The answer seems obvious at first, but it states "only for the first attack, but the creature is only making one attack with "multiple strikes" (Ranged+X from the codex states: if making multiple attacks against the same or different objects, it gains this bonus only for the first attack it can make with this bonus). I'm also assuming that the indirect trait gets applied to every strike for that creature's attack.

Do multiple Wardstones trigger if one enchantment is destroyed? So for example if i had two stones out would my opponent have to pay 4 mana?

Unfortunately they do stack.......

Well...

Purge magic has a fixed cost - 12 mana.

1. Cast spell. Turn it face up declare target check for range and LOS and pay mana.

2. Opponent can counter the spell now with nullify if he has it on target.

3. Spell resolves. Here you pay 2 extra mana for each Wardstone the opponent has in play PER enchanment you wish to destroy.

Gate of Voltari will get a mana when you cast the face down enchantment, not when you reveal it.

I was definitely under the impression that "whenever a Mage casts and resolves a spell" when an Enchantment is casted facedown, the Gate to Voltari does not yet receive any mana since it hasn't been resolved yet. Later, when the Enchantment is revealed and resolved, THEN the Gate to Voltari would receive the mana. That's how I've interpreted it! Thoughts?

I don't understand the question. The Dispel Want ability on the card states "Then leave it face down after looking".

The rules to trigger a Mandatory Reveal don't happen. i.e. The ability on an Equipment spell is NOT an Incantation spell, Enchantment spell or Attack spell unless it is written as such.

The question derives from the rules. The rules state how when a Mandatory Enchantment is revealed, if the conditions are not met then it is destroyed (page 19 paragraph 3, OR page 20 paragraph 1).

If the Dispel Wand's 2nd effect to "look at hidden enchantment" causes it to be revealed, then it would be destroyed.

For the record, I do believe that look is different than reveal, but I don't want to find out the hard way in a tournament that look=reveal!!!

My interpretation of "deals damage" is inflict 1 or more wound markers, not "deal damage phase". Anyone else?

I see your confusion and this deserves addition to the FAQ. More is more (as long as it is logically ordered).

Yeah, I can easily see both sides of this point and that's the only reason I am so concerned!!

Another example:
Mana Drain = "If this attack damages an enemy creature..."
So does this mean if you roll dice and go through the Damage and Effects step, you have done damage? Or do you literally have to cause damage by placing damage markers on them?

Chain Lightning actually needs to deal damage (put damage on the target), not just have a damage and effect step.

I agree. This is more thematic, but I can see how the Design intentions (for the purposes of mitigating randomness in dice rolling) it would simply be the Damage and Effects step!

Cards that say deals damage or damages:
I've always assumed that "does damage" meant the "Damage and Effects step" of an Attack.

For clarification, does Chain Lightning's ability "Each time Chain Lightning damages a target" mean that it has to incur loss of health, or does it simply mean that if dice are rolled and the Damage and Effects step occurs (even if no hits were made) that it does damage?

Dispel Wand's 2nd effect says to look at a hidden enchantment. What if you target a Mandatory Enchantment with Dispel Wand? Is "look" different from "reveal"?

Ex: Priestess uses Dispel Wand to look at a target Hidden Enchantment that was cast by opponent Warlock last round. When she resolves the spell she finds that it's a Mandatory Hellfire Trap Enchantment. Does she (A) put it back facedown, or (B) Mandatory trap was "revealed", therefore it's destroyed?
