That explains everything! Somehow I missed the portion in the rule book that said if the lair can't pay for everything then you can take the difference from the mage's mana pool. That makes all the difference!

So I am very new to the game and trying to read up on strategy and whatnot. I see that a lot of people say to play the Beastmaster Lair early so you can overwhelm with creatures quickly.

Does the Lair get to cast a creature for free during deployment? I see it has a channeling stat, does it have to charge up to cast the creatures?
