General Discussion / Re: Team Game Tips

Something fun I used to do with a 40k group when thing started to get stale. Keep in mind, when we did this, we all knew each other's play styles inside out. When you show up to play, everyone sees who they might be facing and made a list [for mage wars a book] based on what they saw. Then, everyone would get into groups of 4 and random roll who their ally would be. This led to the most fun results when at least 1 or 2 people went with a build countering/weak to something else, and they either got good or bad luck in the pair ups. It led to wonderful tales of everyone working together, or stepping on each other's toes.

A fun way to open as beast master is to summon your fairy familiar, and harmonize her from the get go. She can now place an enchantment a turn at no cost to the mage. I find this build also works well with allot of decoy spells: If you don't to cast anything of importance that turn, throw out a decoy. Your mage now effectively has +2 mana when it is destroyed, or when you want to reveal it for the boost. If you put a bunch of decoy in your spell book, this can also act as a +2 channel a turn for 6 turns-not efficient, but there if it turns out you need the extra juice. The beast master may now also concentrate on summoning and other set up, while your fairy buffs your starting rush.

Spells / Re: Mage's Wand

Has anyone ever tried putting a resurrection spell into a wand? I'm messing around with some build ideas, and wanted to know if anyone had tried this and found success/failure.

oh, shoot, never mind, found my mistake upon a few re-reads. I should have been paying the upkeep instead of him. Good to know, and I owe my opponent an apology.

"IF Essence Drian was allowed to target a mage and that mage did not pay the upkeep they would die."

This actually ties in to a question I have. Can  Force Hold target an enemy mage? I don't actually see anything keeping it from doing just that. This came up in a game where I suckered a beast master into following me to the corner, then Force Holding him and sicking 2 hydras on him. I want to make sure I wasn't cheating when I did so.

It also seems a little op to be able to hit an enemy mage with something like that.
