Title: OCTGN DOMINATION Summer 18 Tourney
Post by: Biblofilter on June 24, 2018, 02:17:08 AM
We are already 3 people!
So sign up :)

1. Rampager (?)
2. Keejchen
3. Silverclaw Grizzly
4. Werekingdom

5. Sharkbait
6. farkas1
7. Sailor Vulcan
8. jacksmack

Backup: Biblo

Galaxxus will be permitted. (we might drop it in later tourneys if people insist)
UPDATE: Galaxxus just been banned by popular demand. I'm assuming this mean another entry in the tourney?

2 player. (we might do a 2 vs 2 if there is demand for it/I'm thinking Soldiers - Warlord/Holy or Necro combo)
Timeframe: "Summer" with 8 people, we only have to play 3 matches  8) - should be done pretty fast.
So atm it looks like 4 Domination Tourneys/year.

Keejchen will choose a map, and that's going to be the one played in all the games in this tourney.
So you can build a spellbook according to that map.
As im currently not in the tourney I'm choosing the map: Lost Expedition (2 players) 11 V´Tar to win.

Id be looking to get a game or two in before my vacation in July.

Now where is my live Domination books??

I would like to join if possible.

I would like to ask how many times a mage can be played.
Are the rules similar to Thunderdome?

If you die your out :)

I guess in Domination i should say lose.

We encourage people to play different mages, but you can play the same Mage/book for all 2 or 3 matches.

Else we try to have the same rules as AD :) / Thunderdome.

Just played an amazing Domination game with Shark  8)

Something came up:

Would a Sslak be destroyed in upkeep, if you played an Essence Drain on them?

I don´t think mana stuff should effect Sslaks:

Essence Drain
Minor Essence Drain
[mwcard=MW1J16]Mordok's Obelisk[/mwcard]

^^ being especially bad as it removes all the Sslaks.

Suppression Cloak
Altar of Piece
Pacify

Thats maybe - and not that important.

Me too. I want to play in this. Also I think it might be too soon to ban galaxxus when there is literally zero tournament data. Although it might depend on what map you are using.

I’d like the last spot. Haven’t tried domination yet though.

Galaxus is no good as it forces everyone to have one. I think it could have used a few more hours in the bench before that one came out. But when it's there it forces a response in some way, and the simplest response possible is... play your own galaxus. It shifts the focus of a domination game from conquer the board and strategically out maneuver your opponent, to rush a guardian, activate an orb, drop galaxus, kill other dudes galaxus. Boring/ lame imo.

No limitation to mages.

But it is encouraged.

Played my  first game last night with Keejchen.  Good battle my Joktari vs his Paladin.   I was out creatureed I did not summon a lair and opted to do The Fellela route.  He had a temple out, Casseliel , and a late game battleforge.  I was out actioned for the majority of game and I new only route was to try and punish his pally.  He won by claiming v orbs.  Good game and I think he recorded it.

Good luck to Keejchen and rest of group.  My first domination match in long time and it was pretty fun.  I will definitely play it more often And I hope we could work on some rules for some team domination tourny matches because I think they would be epic!!!

Thursday July 5th 3pm EST. Silverclawgrizzly vs Werekingdom!
Title: Re: OCTGN DOMINATION Summer 18 Tourney

The results of our match (Werekingdom vs Silverclawgrizzly) was a eventual victory for Werekingdom after an 1:15hr game.

The step by step events of the game.

The sweltering Thursday evening was interrupted by the roar of the spectators as large panel screens showing the insides of a cavernous arena came alive. On one end of the arena a silver haired beauty walked out of the black portal that suddenly yawned open. The crowd erupted in to cheers, which doubled in volume as Ms. Silver raised her hand to the camera and waved, this action ending some of the catcalls as her large meat-hook like fingernails became apparent to the more observant spectators.

But before all the crowd noticed those impressive armament, a new portal appears in the far end of the cavern, from which a dashing man in bright whites robes strode out of the darkness as if he was the king of the world.

This glorious image was somewhat lessened by the presence of a boombox attached by hemp twine to the priest's belt. The "priest" then had the audacity to bend down to the boombox's control panel and press the bright red play bottom, once he came completely into the arena. This resulted in the boombox starting to play "Burn baby burn" by Ash, the hellish auditory experience which followed as the Priest's high-pitch screeching (*singing) was added was memorable, to say the least.

As the octaves climbed, the priest's holy image shattered, the crowd scattered, leaving only those unfortunate souls that where unable to flee, including Ms. Silver, clasping their hands to their head in a vain attempt to block out the painful sound. The "priest," unaware of his profound effect on the audience, continued singing for a whole 15 rounds, until Ms. Silver manage to flee the underground cavern. Thus leaving the priest to creates his own hellish audio landscape in the darkness, manifesting a nightmare worse the any of the fevered dreams of purgatory that Dante may have imagined.

Should we cut both rampager and jacksmack in this?

Mostly because id like to participate in a new Domination tourney :)

But its also just nice to get those Minis moving - that's the point of them.

Also don´t we need to find someone who can challenge Puddin and Coshade in a 2 vs 2 Domination game?

We have an ongoing thing here that is moving rather slow, I'm sure you can still join in. :)

So you do!

However, two things:

my time zone in Australia (UTC+10, so 8 hours ahead of Berlin and 14 hours ahead of New York) will make coordination with Europe and the US rather... interesting.

and

I've never actually used Octgn before, so I'd need someone with the patience of a saint to give me a tutorial :)

Well, first off, you can't really be a MW player if you are the impatient type ;)

And time zones aren't a big issue in my experience. Even assuming that players follow normal sleep schedules (which I know many of us don't), a day should include 16 hours of activity, so with good planning even a 12 hour time difference is not a problem.

If you (or anyone else following this!) are interested, then watch this tutorial video by the AD team: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLKFenfrT4VG9UsmW2dxHwqupYR71p5fFB
This gives you the basics of setting up and navigating OCTGN. Once that is down you can play, just expect your first few games being a bit slower while getting used to the interface. After that, MW is MW, be it on the line or on a board.
