There are other surprises through out the site. More than just our mysterious red robed friend on the front page. I'd recommend keeping your MW glasses on  :)

Has "Defend Me" (Formation) (http://www.arcanewonders.com/game/mage-wars-academy/warlord/) been spoiled yet?

Has that Griffin (with the festive hat) (http://www.arcanewonders.com/merry-month-of-mage-wars-holiday-sale/) appeared before?

And is the crystal ball in a Dice Towers Essentials game, or might it be an upcoming MW card?

Just found a way to view the full image from the new web store, including the top row...

Art for several new mages, potentially, in this image!!
I think I see 6 new mages, including the male Arena Forcemaster.

If you don't see a female dark elf below the Arraxian Crown Warlock near the right edge, you might want to save the image and load it in another app.

Based on how new mages are placed I think that 3 new mages are for Academy (druid, necromancer and Academy exclusive new mage) and 4 for Arena (alternate Wizard and Forcemaster, two brand new mages, frost based and dark elf).
It's seems that Arena focuses on politics of main continent but Sistarra Academy has students from all over the world (at least Kumanjaro).

Oh yes. I've seen that female Wizard art so many times I forgot to count her as net-new (but somehow counted the male Forcemaster).

Based on location within the image, there would appear to be a male "Johktari" Druid and male "Dsjer-Tet" mage (Necromancer?), along with the previously discussed new female "assassin" (?), on the Academy side. But these two new reveals look a little mature for Academy... Could they be Arena mages?

The female Wizard and male Forcemaster have been anticipated for Arena for a very long time. The silver-haired male with glowing eyes is new, though, and isn't obviously giving away his school or mage type. His armour is reminiscent of the dragon-like Arch-mage that has been floating around for over a year. But given the absence of the known Arch-mage art, perhaps this more humanoid male is replacing the dragon in that role (?).

And then there's the new dark elf mage. It isn't clear to me which school or mage type she belongs to. The colour scheme could indicate a Necromancer in training... and she appears to be young enough to be an Academy mage, which draws into question whether the "Johktari" Druid and "Tsjer-Tet" Necromancer belong to Academy, or if they're location within the image is strategically chosen to throw us off. For example, I could imagine the male Druid and male Dsjer-Tet mage belong to Arena (e.g. a future Johktari vs Dsjer-Tet alt-mage expansion), and this dark elf and the human "assassin" being Academy mages.

Nobody ever mentions the arena wizard looks ancient compared to the other arena mages. Is arcane honestly so hard to master it takes 50 plus years to get to the level of a 30 something year old Beast Master?

My guess is that the particular person in the male wizard mage art just started school later.

As I see it Academy Mages are undergraduate students and arena mages are professionals. Speaking of which where are the graduate student mages? I still think we should have something in between Academy and Arena at some point in the future. Something like apprentice mode but with its own spells and mage abilities and customizable spellbooks and level 5 mages and with forwards compatiblity with Arena but not backwards compatiblity with Academy.

As I see it Academy Mages are undergraduate students and arena mages are professionals.

Isn't academy supposed to be their graduation fight? After the fight, the academy mage is considered a full fledged mage. (age 22-26)  An academy mage is still an extremely powerfull person even if weak compared to arena mages. I think they can be considered as a "professional".

Arena mages however are the best of the best mages that fight in an Arena, in many cases to resolve conflicts between different regions. These guys have been in many battles and have improved through experience and not training. Most professionals never even reaching this power throughout an entire lifetime.

(When reading the stories on the website, it's clear that forces like the necromancer in darkfenne or the rise of the bloodwave warlord isn't something that happens every 2 years. These are not simply professionals)

Speaking of which where are the graduate student mages?
I would consider Naiya and other familiars to be the undergraduate "students" or simply undergraduate mage-like creatures that never reached the level for graduation due to lack of talent/work. Basic knowledge of spells but no stamina or all-round skills.

Yeah what Hale is saying sounds correct from what i know. There is also the idea of stronger mages in dominaton lore that indicates the mage creature could go to a higher level then we see in arena. But those are extremely rare.
