I would Love to see a way to use this from different devices without having access to the .sbb file(s).

It is in the plans but testing local storage is a lot of work  ;) I also need to get an Android tablet to test on before I do that

Minor quibble. You can take it or leave it, really. However, I think the Search by Type field should be a drop down list instead of a text box. That would be my first choice. My second choice would be to have the full wording of the Type for each spell. I don't really like the abbreviations. But that's just my opinion and doesn't really affect the functionality too much.

I totally agree with this.

Add "+" button next to the "-" in our spellbook so we do not have to search in the big list just to add another copy of a card already in the spellbook.

Not sure if its a feature request, existing feature, known issue or bug, but the card images come up over the page dialogue.  They also persist if another card is selected and need to be actively deselected to be closed.

As they don't seem movable, having persisting images seems redundant.  It would seem cool if they could be moved to the side so I could have a few cards open to compare effect etc.  In which case, as I'd probably have scrolled from the card title, being able to close the image by clicking on it somewhere would be nice.

Also wondered if the default card sets included should flag off the mage selected (i.e. if I select Warlord, then FM vs W seems a useful default spell set to include).

On this same note, maybe an 'X' in the corner of the card when it pops up so that it can be easily closed without having to click on the card link again would be nice

Add "+" button next to the "-" in our spellbook so we do not have to search in the big list just to add another copy of a card already in the spellbook.

It would also be kind of nice to be able to have some kind of flag that indicates if a card is already in the spellbook in the bottom pane.

Currently you can enter 'War Earth' in the field and find any cards that are Earth and/or Dark schools. You wouldn't be able to do that if it was a drop down. It doesn't effect a lot of spells currently

As you mentioned, those are Schools. I was talking about spell Type. Meaning Attack, Conjuration, Creature, Enchantment, Equipment, or Incantation. I am pretty confident in saying no spell has more than one Type.

Whoops  ;D

I'll add it later today and it will be in the next release.

It would be nice to have all of the basic spellbooks "pre-built" to save the time of entering them manually.  They could be included as a free download, or better yet integrated into the app.

When saving a spellbook that was loaded from disk, subsequent saves are text only (.txt extension).

1. OS:  Mac OS X 10.8.5
2. Browser:  Chrome Version 31.0.1650.57

Steps to reproduce:

1.  Create a Spellbook.
2.  Save the spellbook to disk with ".sbb" extension
3.  Load the spellbook from disk.
4.  Click "save."  The spellbook only saves in .txt format.  ("sbb.txt")

This should be in the Bug Report thread :-)

Nothing I can do about this. The Mac makes assumptions about files based on the MIME type of the file and then adds file extensions for you. Its an annoying sort of thing to do but there is nothing I can do to stop it from happening.

Samething happens with my Chromebook. It totally drop the name, saving the file under the name "sbb.txt".

Two thoughts

First it would be nice to have an ongoing total of the cost of spells added the spellbook at the bottom of the selected spells list.

Second I see it previously mentioned by Moonglow but didn't see a response to the fact that card images persist if another card is selected and need to be actively deselected to be closed.  Being able to close the image by clicking on it somewhere or simply having it disappear when another card is selected would be nice.

useful tool.

There is. A bug is currently stopping it from working

If you click the name of the card again the preview will disappear. I will be rewriting the preview system for the next version

Can you remove the spell types that aren't available from the list?  Like at the moment it says 0 available, but they were never selected (i.e. Akiros battlecry because I didn't select the set its in)... If there are zero available, is there an advantage to showing it at all? Or is it just too hard/much hassle to remove?

Might be simpler to use CSS to grey out the cards you don't have. Would that be workable?

My post in the general forums reminded me I should provide feedback here:

Please have a 'set' you can choose that would set all card quantities to six.  (Or some other option so you're not limited by card quantities when building a spellbook.)

I'll look into adding a menu option for that. Shouldn't be too difficult

What about a menu option to ignore spell card counts?

Adding spell level to what you can see on the list would be nice.

It won't be in the SBB but it will be in the Card Database based on the SBB. There isn't enough room currently on the SBB to add another column

first of all, i would like to say, i love working with the SBB to set up my spellbooks

just two thoughts however :

1) in near future, could it be possible to have the promo cards as well in the dbase ? I would like to add hurl rock and clear mind to my wizard build...

2) also i think it would be very handy to have a "type" filter in the spell book window as well, just like there is one in the spell list window...to be able to analyze the chosen spells in a more detailed way

..but thanks anyway for this great tool !

Hey Pixelgeek, I am attempting to generate files for the spellbook builder and ran into an issue. It appears that the SBB is case-sensitive when it comes to the card IDs. For example, I have the card ID "MW1E02" in a file which is the ID for Block, but the SBB does not recognize it unless I change it to "mw1e02".

If you are able to make the SBB case-insensitive when processing card IDs I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Regarding my previous post, I have implemented a workaround of sorts - my program now writes both uppercase and lowercase card IDs to the file. This doesn't appear to cause any errors as it seems like the AW SBB just skips over any card IDs it doesn't recognize. However it does take several extra seconds to load.

All that to say, I am fine if you decide to make the change or not.

Its not really something that would be high on my list of things to do as it would require a lot of testing. Those card IDs are used all through the system.

That is fine, I will stick with my current method.

I have no say in that at all so you'd need to talk to Bryan or Patrick. Drop them a line as I suspect that they don't actively follow this thread

It'd be useful if the spellbook builder remembered which sets I own (with a cookie?), so I don't have to re-enter them each time.

A request not for the sbb, but for the card list database... would be nice if the mage cards were there too.

I'd love to be able to change my mage after adding cards to the spellbook. Make it error or remove now-illegal cards and then recalculate spellbook points.

I'd especially want to check all the elements for a wizard to see which is the cheapest on spellbook points.

Do you think it would be possible to change the XML format of cards to include the type of the card?

Like instead of:

Code: [Select]
<card code='DNA01' number='3' cost='2'> Acid Ball</card>
it would be:

Code: [Select]
<card code='DNA01' number='3' cost='2' type='attack'> Acid Ball</card>
Would allow some form of sorting while working with the xml file.

Pixel, is there enough info in the card database and SBB to make it searchable for cards with certain traits?  i.e. if I wanted to browse all creature cards with intercept or flying?

There is. It would require a bit of added code to the Card Database so I would need to get approval for that.

Wicked. It'd be amazing if it was possible. It might be cause I dip in and out of mage wars but I don't know all the cards as well as I'd like. I like to think I'm not alone... Often making a book I'm trying to find cards with particular traits in a school and contrasting how they'd fit my book.
