Title: Triple Strike vs. multiple defenses
Post by: Dopplegienger on January 30, 2013, 02:02:27 AM
Looked can't find it in forum

So if the hydra attacks my mage and I have two items that give me a melee defense, can I use one on its first attack (strike) and the other item on the hydras second attack (strike), the third attack (strike) is immaterial.

Note: Keep in mind that Step 5 Additional Attacks have an avoid attack step. page 29.

Try this (http://magewars.com/jsite/forum/4-rules-discussion/2407-confirmng-armor-affect-each-strike-of-triplstrike#5219)  :silly:

I hope that helps

Well that does not seem to address my question, I'm basically looking for a yes or no, can I use a second defense ability on the 2nd attack from hydra? Can I use a third defense ability on the hydras 3rd and last attack? In this situation assume that I am using a x1(once per round) defense.

The linked thread explains the combat phasing in detail, which shows you the how and why for your answer.  In this particular case, yes you can use multiple defenses for each additional attack phase, as each has its own Avoid Attack sub phase.

Good call Koy.

It was a long post but it broke down the entire combat phase step by step. The simple answer would have been yes but you also said you could not find any posts on it. That is why I recommended looking at that.

I hope that clear up your questions.
