Title: Battle Skill
Post by: Orco on January 27, 2013, 10:49:47 AM
Battle Skill:

Beastmaster has the melee+1 trait.

I know that this adds to the basic attack of the Beastmaster which would give him 4 basic attacks total.  My question is does this trait add to equipment items such as Staff of Beast?  Now in the walkthrough section of the codex, as well as the video, the Beastmaster used the Staff of Beast on the Warlock for a total of 4 attack.  Shouldn't the Beastmaster be able to add one extra attack with the Staff of Beast or does the Battle Skill only apply to his basic attacks.

Yes Battle Skill's melee+1 should add to any melee attack. It's a small mistake.

Hello, Orco!

Battle Skill adds Melee +1 to all melee attacks of the mage.
So to answer your question: Yes, this trait adds to the attacks made with equipments.
In the walkthrought the Mages' abilities are ignored for better understanding of the basic rules.

Perhaps that is a definition of the Apprentice Mode? I don't have my rulebook nearby to check this out.

From the rulebook (Page 6):
" Note: For this walkthrought, we're not going to use the Mages' special abilities, though you will need their ability cards so you can see the Life, Armor, and Basic Attack for your Mage. You can ignore everything else on these cards for now."
And yes, in the Apprentice Mode, the Mages don't have any special abilities.
