I am curious how everyone plans to sort thier cards. its not that hard just to sift through everything right now but i doubt we can say that a year from now. here are my current thoughts but im interested to know how everyone else plans to do it.
section 1-Mages with all mage only spells. (alphabetacal so beastmater with beastmaster only spells etc)
section 2-School only spells (major schools alphabetacal, minor schools alphabetacal)
section 3-Equipment (sorted slot, school, alphabetacal)
section 4-Creatures (sorted school, alphabetacal)
section 5-Novice spells. (type, scool, alphabetacal)
section 6-Spells (sorted type, school, alphabetacal)
any other thoughts? not sure if i should put novice equipment with all novice spells or with equipment.

Mage only
School only
the rest by type school and level

I will sort straight alpha by name.

I have tried this before with other games and if you are late sorting a new set it starts to get out of order very quickly. I have over 150k magic cards and plenty of card for other games so I know this from experience.

I sort by spell type first, and then alphabetically after that.
Depending on how many cards you end up with in your set, maybe sorting by school first and then by type would be better.
-
yeah i wasnt sure wether to go school then type, or type then school

i know this is kind of an old topic but after building a few decks i have come to realise what i look for when i create a deck.
mages and mage only spells.
school only spells.
equipment, sorted by slot (not school)
walls (I put walls by themselves because they really take up a special function, like equipment)
Novice spells
everything else sort by school then type
i think as the card list grows this will give me the most flexability and make it easy to find the cards im looking for when i need them.

I forgot equip slot, good call. That is how we have it in our play-test card set. But we did not have novice spell when we got our set I may add this to the plat-test sorting.
-
i came up with this to make it easier in spellbook creation down the road when there are lots more cards available.
-
We built a binder of all play-test cards 1 copy each so we can quickly choose what we need when we build custom books. It is broken down by card type, Sub type ( conjurations - walls / equips by slot than name), Spell School (except equips). All mage specific cards are keeped in the spell books for that mage. All our extras are keeped in sorted boxes.

good call thanks.

No problem. Back when we started doing this we did not have a visual list for all the cards so we kind of made one.
