Title: Is the mage a creature?
Post by: NovemberAdam on January 17, 2013, 10:33:09 AM
I appologize if this may seem obvious, but when a spell targets a creature, is the mage a creature, or only critters brought into the game by spells?

Short answer: yes.

Page 3 of the rulebook under "The Mage Ability Card" states the following:
"Your Mage is a creature, which means he may move around the arena and take actions. Note, for all purposes, your Mage is treated as a Level 6 creature."

As a side note, some cards specify "Non-Mage Creature" in the target line, so watch out for that!

Mage is a creature.  But, some spells do specifically say "Target Non-Mage Creature" such as Eagle Wings and Turn To Stone thus in those cases you can't target the mage.  Everything else is fair game.

Thanks... there seemed to be a few enchantments that I'm surprised didn't have a magebind value on them then as they seemed particularly nasty.

Thanks for the heads up!

The new rulebook doesnt seem to say this on page three.  I don't think it changes the answer, but I'm trying to track our questions and where I can find the 'authority' answer, and some of these older answers don't match up with the version two rule book.

Any suggestions?

It's on page 13 in the new rulebook, in the top left box. The PDF of the rulebook from the download section is searchable, makes it relatively easy to find things.

Ta. I try and discourage devices at the game table, since they're usually just distracting. But yeah,  should have tried searching before posting.   Thanks.

The generally accepted procedure here is as follows...

First offence ... Warning
Second ...      Chop off one finger
Third ... Chop off one hand
Fourth ...   Decapitation

I try and discourage blood on my games even more than I try and discourage devices at the game table! :)
