Title: Bear Strength?
Post by: Toxziq on October 11, 2012, 04:08:03 PM
In the rule clarifications under Hawkeye, it says it should only apply the +1 attack to the first attack like bloodthirsty +X, Melee +X, etc... so am I to understand that a creature with bear strength only gets the +2 attack dice on their first attack?  So if I bear strength a darkfenne hudry let's say, and attack with his triple strike, it's only that one first attack that gets it?

Correct that would fall in the Melee +X rules

Hello all,

I've a timing question.

Which goes first? deduction of rot-tokens or adding dice of Bear Strenght.

Exemple: Creature with 3 attack dice and 4 Rot Tokes

If strenght is addes first: 3 + 2 - 4 = 1 dice
If rot is taken in account first: 3 - 4 results in 1 attack dice (special rule). 1 + 2 = 3 dice.

Thanks for your help.

This is the rule you are referring to.

Important: No matter how many traits or effects apply, the attacker always gets to roll at least 1 die, unless the target is Immune to the damage type of the attack. Add or subtract all of these modifiers from the number of dice listed in the attack bar. Roll a number of dice equal to the final, modified attack value.

They are all applied before the roll (3+2-4=1) = (3-4+2=1) The special rule only applies when the end result would be 0 or less so with both you roll 1D.

Hope that helps

Great answer Shadow.

Mathias, you meant WEAK, not ROT, right?  The same answer applies - was just curious.

I have a follow up question related to this.  If you've got Bear Strength on a creature and cast Battle Fury on that creature, my interpretation was that the creature would get the melee bonus for both attacks since they are separate attacks. Am I correct?

very true

That's part of why Battle Fury is a little expensive at 5 mana.  We assume its going to be used when a creature is really buffed up!
