Title: How many creatures/conjurations does a Forked Lightning attack?
Post by: morpheusdelpozo on March 27, 2017, 05:30:35 AM
Hi! Our group finds confusing the card "Forked Lightning", we do not know if it

a) It targets 2 objetcs and attacks both with sweeping (thus potentially attacking 4 times)

or

b) It targets 1 object and attacks with sweeping (thus potentially attacking twice)

I guess the second part of the sentence just clarifies what "sweeping" means.
It is highly confusing worded, you could get the impression that you can attack 2 targets thus attacking 4 times with this card but that can't possibly be the case because you don't get 12 dice with 6 mana card and a lvl 2 spell.

So you can just ignore the sentence if you already know what "sweeping" does.

At least that's how I'd interpret the card.

Forked Lightning targets 1 creature or conjuration (see target line at the top) and has the Sweeping trait, which allows it to attack a second target after the first, in the same zone as the first.

Unfortunately because this card is from Academy, they added redundant text to the card, which only adds confusion. I recommend pretending there is no text on this card.  8)

*edit* In fact, if they replaced the words "and can" with "which allows it to", then it would be clear... but the ambiguous use of the word "and" makes it more confusing than it needs to be.
