Title: Elemental Wizard
Post by: Ravepig on February 21, 2017, 06:39:10 PM
Was chatting with reddicediaries about the idea of an elemental wizard. He pointed me to some previous examples. I know this concept isn't new, but thought I would post my iteration for critique. My one concern: too much equipment?

Ok some observations:
Banish is too situational in the current meta to be worth the 4 points I think.
I would take at least 3 dissolves or a combination of 3 dissolves + crumble. You will have the time and actions to cast all of them.
I think glove of skill is enough, favor is extra.
That's all that stands out to me atm.
Good job overall!

not saying you should do this but I have found that with water spells what they are and the upkeep cost, I just swapped my fire elemental for a second water elemental - no upkeep, not weak to lightning, and resilient with an amazing attack

it takes 1 of the elementals out but it's still fun

food for thought

Interestingly enough, you both point out 1 thing I couldn't decide on:

1. I wasn't sure if the value of having both Gloves of Skill and Akiro's Favor was worth the sbp. I agree, I think I can remove AF and replace with something else.

2. I really struggled with replacing a fire elemental with a second water elemental. The deciding factor for me came down to theme and fun. I think it will work for a casual game on the local scene. Something more serious, and I might gladly replace the fire elemental.

3. Really struggling with equipment and Battle Forge. I'm going to keep it in for now and see if/how it gets used.

My opening goal is:

1. crystal x2
2. crystal x2
3. Earth elemental + FD enchantment
4. Water elemental
5. Whirling Spirit + FD enchantment

3 of the 4 elementals out by turn 5. Thoughts?

I think something more like this
Arcane ring crystal
Leaves at a ton of MANA and lots of options. From there bring out whatever elemental you will want based on the matchup.

Yeah, I considered that scenario as well. It will be one of those two openings. Either way, it will be a ton of mana as you say and It'll be fun watching my opponent squirm.

I also noticed you have force hold anchor. With all your wizard tricks, don't think you need them. I would spend the points on
1 whirling spirit
And 1 dissolve.
Oh and the banish for pillar of righteousness flame.

I did debate on this as a secondary strategy as well. In the event my opponent actually gives me the opportunity to set up a kill zone, thought these two cards would come in handy. But, I do like the idea of a second whirling spirit. Damn all these choices!!!

Well jinxing or nullifying them is way cheaper on the MANA and SBP cost and basically gets you the same effect.

Excellent point! I'll have to give that some thought!

And they are more flexible, you can you them for many different purposes. Not just anti port/ movement.
