Hello everybody. Some of you know me pretty well IRL, others not so much. Up until now, I have not been much of a forum ranger, but I suspect that will change shortly.
Here is the deal. The universe has conspired against me and it looks like I will be “forced” to visit Europe this summer for about 9 weeks (poor little me). I will be based out of southern Czech Republic, but the only thing keeping me there is the expense of accommodations (long story short, I can stay for free at my in-laws house).
I already plan to plan a trip to Copenhagen to visit Biblofilter and all the other Danish Mage Warriors. I was thinking that with enough advanced planning, I could make this a full-fledged European tour.
Let me know your preliminary ideas of what is possible and what you would like to see happen. I will start a new, more official thread after the New Year to help coordinate things. For now, I just want to put some feelers out. With the right support, I can imagine some great things.

This sounds, amazing. I'm excited to see who all you're able to visit. I know Bryan was BLOWN AWAY by our fans when he sat down at Essen and spoke to them.

TrentMagus is one of my best friends and strongest gaming rival. He's a great guy and a VERY formidable match to anyone. He went head to head with the Gen Con champion and he's won our Wounded Warrior event in the past. I support his idea to do a "good will tour" 100% and will be sending some nice little prizes with him.

Czech republic will welcome you!
Is this your first time here? If you will know some exact date, give me an echo, i will organize small tournament!
Lets see if you are worthy enough to face our champions in Arena! ( :) )
(now i need to order a throne made of skulls and grow a Fu-Man-Chu mustache)

For those of you who care, allow me to give you the longer version of things. My wife is Czech. She is from a village about 75 km south of Brno. We got married in the Czech Republic and I lived there for a little over 2 years. I worked for an ESL school in Brno the first year (terrible commute 3 times a week) and opened my own school the second.
I am a schoolteacher in the US now (which is why I can slip off to Europe for 9 weeks in the summer). I am expecting my 3rd child in January, so my Czech in-laws are fitting the bill for plane tickets so they can see their grandchildren. The trip is mainly for my wife (who is homesick). I am just tagging along because we will have 2 children under the age of 2 when we travel, so we legally need 2 adults to accompany them. Once we get there, the grandparents will look after the kids, my wife will spend her time with her sisters and friends, and I will have 9 weeks to kill in a small village where I have already explored every nook and cranny. I will have no problems getting out and visiting, so long as I have a place to stay when I get there.
Boocheck, where are you located exactly?
PS: Remember, Mortal Kombat is not a tournament. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XdepDjPDkVw (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XdepDjPDkVw)

My base of operations is located in Prague. I think i can contact some players in Brno and Olomouc but that would be a longshot. I think best chances to enjoy a game and then couple of drinks would be in prague :)
I will ask about possibility of free bed or comfy couch :)

Trent I really like the idea of you in a Mortal Kombat style "tournament" if you somehow have to fight your own book, then two books at once, then eventually some guy who keeps changing books it'd be hilarious.

I see it more as a Dojo Breaking and collecting techniques :D

When I saw topic's name in unread posts I thought that AW is going to make tournament series in Europe and that they have to do one in Szczecin.
You're also welcomed in Szczecin. You should even be able to catch a ferry to Denmark from nearby port of Świnoujście. If You would go other way then Szczecin has good connection to Berlin.
Also if You like music festivals then You should definitely check Przystanek Woodstock. It's biggest free music festival in Europe (and it's located somewhere between Brno and Szczecin).

To be honest, a European tournament tour is my end goal. We just need to generate enough interest to get AW to shell out more and better prize support. I can bring a whole suitcase (23 kg) worth of swag with me and it would be great to be able to give it all away. I have 9 whole weeks to kill. Once I have a list of venues, we can work on a more comprehensive schedule. The only critical snag at the moment is lodging; it is the one thing I can’t afford out of pocket. We will definitely add Szczecin to the list. Look for a new forum post after the New Year where we will get specifics locked down. Enjoy the holidays and shout out if you want me to visit you this summer! The more, the better!

You could of course add Bonn, Germany to your list of destinations! We have regular monthly tournaments with 12-16 players!

We should have this be like a gym challenge from Pokemon. Each city you go to can set up their own themed challenge, and if you beat it you can face their "gym leader" in a game of Mage Wars. If you win, you get that city's gym badge. Once you collect them all you are a Mage Wars master!
This way more people in the community can really get involved without having to travel.
I would love to be a gym leader...

Im also interested in going to Germany, Poland, France, Spain etc :)
Really want to go back to USA Next year also, so time, money and vacation permit is a (small) concern.

You of course have free crash space in Charlotte my friend. May even have nicer accommodations next year.
