Title: Can I Turn to Stone an Orb Guardian?
Post by: Erebus on July 28, 2015, 02:41:52 PM
I recently read through the Domination rules and, while Incapacitated creatures are unable to guard orbs normally, it seems that Sslak must be destroyed before an orb can be taken regardless. If this is the case, couldn't Turn To Stone be a strong interruption tool for orbs near your enemy? (albeit very expensive). Brace Yourself is probably a cheaper, more effective option since it won't prevent guards, but I'm just curious as to if this is legal.

You are correct. An orb can not be melee attacked while it's guardian still lives, and thus you can not take control of an orb that has a neutral guardian still alive in it's zone. Putting defensive enchantments on the guardians near your opponent will slow down your opponent's acquisition of orbs.

There's a lot of pretty evil things you can do with that! Thanks for the response :)

If you bring a guardian back with rise again, can the enemy mage still hit the orb?

I think my preferred enchantments for an orb guardian would be reverse attack/block. I see people hurl high mana attack spells at them, but rarely an unavoidable one.
