Title: Arcane Duels - Teaches Players How to Play OCTGN
Post by: Coshade on July 09, 2015, 05:54:02 PM
Hey Guys,

With Thunderdome becoming bigger and bigger, Intangible and I thought we would make a tutorial video on how to setup and play OCTGN. OCTGN is a great, free program where you can play the entire mage wars game with anyone in the WORLD. It's a great opportunity for you to take your spellbooks and put them to the test. We created a 3 part tutorial on how to setup the game, build a spellbook, and play against other players. Enjoy!

Part 2 : Building a Spellbook - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OnXmiXz-CYw
Part 3 : Playing a Match - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOiE7mAB_sk

Holy cow, that was fast. Is there any way to get a written transcript for those of us who can't remember all of that? Thanks!

Just pause it and replay anything you miss, then you get to hear my beautiful voice more often.

But really, I have a printed list of directions that I can post, give me a bit and I'll throw it on.

I also should have thanked you... I tried getting Octgn on my computer once before, but ended up getting some kind of fake with malware attached. I look forward to it... whenever you get some time, of course.

Supposedly uber Linux power users can use Wine to get this running. IF you want to try I suggest you talk to the OCTGN guys on IRC about the process. OCTGN being a dotNet application is not the simplest program to get running on non-Windows based operating system.

Thanks!
On the video there's a box "do you want to use octgn on a mac or linux system"... and usually the problems begin at this point...
I'll ask them if I decide to play.

If you do play it on Linux and have to go through an abnormal process to get it going. Can you write it down so we can get it on the internet. It could save some headaches for future players :D Thanks
