Is it allowed to equip my Malakai priest with a staff of asyra (it says priestess only, but it's a base set card so i figure it might be errata)?

Yes. Priest counts as a priestess for things like this. Don't remember if it says that in the conquest of kumanjaro rule book or just the rules supplement.

It is on his stats card, under training.
