We have 20 spellpoints to play with. Right now we're low on equipment. The question is what do we need to finish this guy up? Also, is there anything we have in that is extraneous? I'll be playing this tonight, so this last stage will end at 5PM Eastern. Let's finish strong gentlemen!

Whirling Strike is a complete waste imo. Battle Fury is way better.
Unholy Resurgence is not that useful. It is very rare someone try to damage multiple creature at once, they tend to focus down one then move to next one.
I would remove 1 Hurl Boulder
I would add 2 stone or steel wall, they can be very useful to block LoS.
I would add a second watchtower (since we do not have access to the cool outpost from expansion), to boost Barrack while providing another spot for archers to shoot.
I would add 2 Force Push for some board control.
I would add Evade and Precise Strike.
I would add Deathlock to prevent healing

I would add some armor, hate for him to fall to Wall of Thorns | Push | Push....

Add Ring of Command, Dragonscale Hauberk, Leather Boots, Gloves of Strength.

I agree with everything said before. I would also add in some Curses, particularly [mwcard=MW1E27]Marked for Death[/mwcard] . Agony could also be useful. Besides Curses, you might consider Block to help protect your critters, and Regrowth to heal yourself.
To add to the Equipment, you should put on a Veterans belt. Between the 3 armor from boots and chest piece, and the 3 armor from Fortified position and Standard bearer, you should be pretty beefy.
You might include another Shift Enchantment or two to make sure Fortified Position stays where the action is, but it might be a better idea to include walls and pushes (as previously mentioned) to keep the action where Fortified Position is, lol.

Knockdown would be another good spell to include. Since you can't give the Skelies Falcon Precision, this would be a good way to get past Defenses, and it works on Guards and Flyers as well. Too bad it's not a command spell.
I feel like my current decision making may have been influenced subtly by your Wyrd Chronicles article -_- but these are good spells to have.

Knockdown is not required if we get the command Precise Strike.

Knockdown would be another good spell to include. Since you can't give the Skelies Falcon Precision, this would be a good way to get past Defenses, and it works on Guards and Flyers as well. Too bad it's not a command spell.

Looking through the cards I can not find a Precise Strike. I assume you are referring to [mwcard=MW1I18]Perfect Strike[/mwcard]? I don't use the strike cards often so I'm not too familiar with them and they don't spring to mind normally, but looking at it I think it would be adequate and cheaper than Knockdown.

Remove 2 Reassemble. With Mort, no need to that many. Also, I think a Dragonscale Hauberk would be better than Storm Drake Hide

I think removing a Reassemble is a good call, but personally I still think I want two. The other possibility would be, remove one Reassemble and one Teleport and add 2 extra Force Push?
I just realized I need to leave sooner than I thought so in the spirit of this endeavor I'll be taking Wild's suggestion. ADVENTURE!

So, I'm back from a night of playing Mage Wars with the new "Warlord + Skeletons" spellbook. I got two good games in tonight, and the results were two wins. The first game I played a necromancer who popped out Shaggoth-Zora. I built a Barracks and popped out Mort. He quickly became my Standard Bearer. I will say being able to punch for five dice without a weapon was pretty sweet, all while having three armor, but wearing none. The biggest thing I got lucky on was getting an early lead on Shaggy. He was finally killed with ~4 growth counters, but he constantly was short on life.
The second game was against a Wizard who opened with Gate to Voltari. He made a simple mistake and it allowed me to pour the damage on him. We spoke about it after the game and he realized that if he had not jumped out early, he could have gained a substantial advantage over me.
So far the spellbook is pretty dang fun, and has me wanting to build the necromancer version of it.

What was the Wizard Mistake?
And what was your strategy in that game?

I moved to my side of the center plopped up an archer's watchtower and a skeletal archer. He threw out a Gate to Voltari and I walled it back. He threw down two mana crystals. And this was the point that the game changed for him. I told him he should have sat back a bit at that point. He was out channeling me by 3 points a turn and had his spawnpoint online. I was the one with the burden of taking the game to him. Unfortuneately, He came out after me, tried to force push me through a wall of thorns, netting decent damage but I had 3 armor so I wasn't afraid. My Skeletal archer pounded him for 5 dice and he had no armor. We had a nice chat after the game. He easily should have had me, and I should have gone for my Barracks again instead of the opening I did.

So were you able to leverage the synergies of Soldiers and the Warlord other than the tower? Any mage can pull that combo off or was your reference to the Necromancer your thinking that he could do it better?

With the errata to Garrison Post, and the release of FIF, what changes, if any, do you think should, or have you made to this spellbook?

So I gave it a quick once over, and this is what I think it would look like now. I left it with the Bloodwave Warlord. I find that Veteran Markers on Skeletons is quite a fufiling thing. Now this could just as easily be changed to the Anvil Throne Warlord. Remember that the Skeletal Sentry is a Soldier as well.
