Clarification for pg. 26 of the rules, "You can only attack creatures or conjurations that have a life value."
I presume that I can have my creature's attacks target friendly creatures? I'd like to be able to bop creatures that have been hit with Sleep incantations.

i am pretty sure this is allowed.

Unless your opponent does it for you its one of the few ways to get passed sleep.
The rules for targeting would be what applies to this
Target: Every spell must be cast at a target. You may
select the target only if it matches the requirements listed
on the spell you are casting. Some spells may target
objects with particular traits or subtypes.
Targeting also applies to Melee, Ranged, and Zone attacks. So as long as the targeting conditions are met you can attack the object.
As a side note you can use this to bounce around Chain Lightning. Sometimes shooting your own stuff is a good thing.
-
Shooting your own stuff with chain lightning can also be a really bad thing. Seems like those critical 2's always come up at the most unwanted time. =)
-
That is the risk you have to take
-
My hydra will never be first in line for the chain lightning again..... brutal
-
Lesson learned :P
-
So my own mage can also be a legal target for my own spells, for example: my mage has burn tokens and I decided to cast a Geyser and target my own mage to remove the burn tokens
-
You need to check spell range and target line. ;)
-
Yes. In most cases your own Mage is the target - that works well a lot. Blasting yourself with a Geyser is brilliant.
He is almost always in range, unless it is an attack with a minimum range of 1. He is almost always a valid target, unless the target line or spell description says differently.

Sniped you again.
