Okay so after getting destroyed by The Dude's wizard build on octgn, I thought I would post the book I used and see if any advice can be given on either changes to the book, or ways to play it.
*Note- I am including promos b/c they are available for use on octgn*
Necromancer

Deathlock (2)
Idol of P (2)
Mana Crystal (2)

Total: 25

Force Push (2)
2 Seeking Dispel (4)
1 Teleport (4)
3 Zombie Frenzy (6)
Drain Soul (4)
Total: 33
Altogether adds up to 120.
Turn 1 goes same way every time.
Starting mana: 20
QC: Death ring, 15 mana
FC: Move up one and cast libro, 6 mana
I know some people aren't very big on libro, but I've found that it doesn't actually get dissolved as much as you'd think. That's what the nullifies are in there for anyway. I know this would not be the case in tournaments, but I'm just making this deck for fun.
One of the main things I notice right away is that I only have one teleport, which is usually considered heresy in this forum :P I would like to add at least one more, but what should be taken out?
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

One thing that sticks out to me is a lack of ranged attacks. I know I've seen Necro builds without attack spells but it might be a good idea to at least include Force Hammer. I did surprise a friend with a Thunderbolt at range 3 from my Necro last weekend. Build probably could use a Mage wand. Lastly, I would suggest Marked for Death, Power Strike and Battle Fury to give your Zombies a nastier punch.

Drop Vampirism.
-
My advice: Dont use promos.
And if you do, atleast announce it before the game - or ask if its ok to use them.
Most people on OCTGN do not use the promos.
-
Agree on the promos. (Which is sad, since Gravikor is obviously perfect for your flying woes. However, you have 2 maim wings, and can guard at worst, so it's probably covered.)
Maybe tell us why you were beaten by The Dude? What happened in the game? Sometimes the book is fine, but needs the right game plan to go along with it?
-
On OCTGN most games will Promo's (not) Allowed in the Game description.
-
Ah, didn't realize that about promos. Duly noted, and taken out of book.
Dropped gavikor, 2 plagued. Added 2 teleports.
Let's see. The match went as follows:
Turn 1
(Dude's Initiative)
QC: Gate to Voltari
FC: Harmonize on gate
Me:
QC: Death Ring
FC: Move up one and libro
Turn 2
(My initiative)
My Deploy: Zombie Brute
Dude's Deploy: Gremlin
QC:
Me: Meditation amulet
Dude: Passes.
FA:
Me: Meditate
Dude: Move to FC and then uses QC to cast Wizard's tower with Surging Wave in my NC.
From then on, it was essentially me getting slammed and pushed into the wall of the arena while he would guard the tower with his gremlins. I got out 2 more brutes but my bloodthirsty actually worked against me b/c I was forced to target his gremlins instead of the tower. Whenever I killed one, another was just waiting to come over and start guarding again.
I know I could have teleported out of there or something like that but I didn't want to extend the game onward when I was pretty hurt already. Besides, he most likely would have teleported me back anyway. Being slam-locked is what killed me. Couldn't move at all and just kept getting pushed into the wall of the arena. He beat me before the swarm could get going.
-
Would the Cloak of Shadows helped you at all? The wizard tower can't target you if you are more than one zone away. The wizard won't be able to teleport you from a distance either. If he moves close enough to teleport you, your Brutes can move in and pound him.
-
Yeah I considered throwing it on but he was in my zone. He was in my zone attacking me, but my brutes were one zone over with the tower and a wounded gremlin, triggering bloodthirsty. I was more worried about the tower than the wizard at that moment.
-
Well, you played wrong. Blue Gremlin has Pest trait, so even if it guards, you can ignore it.
-
*facepalm*
Well I guess that only mattered for the first attack on him; after he was damaged, I had to attack b/c of bloodthirsty.

Indeed, but you would have focused the tower or the mage instead of the gremlins (really no reason to attack a gremlins if you can't kill it in one round).

Right. Gotta pay more attention next time.
