Title: Elemental school level
Post by: Usagi on December 01, 2013, 12:54:22 PM
I poked around, and couldn't find an answer to this. I might be missing something totally obvious though.

Anyhow, why does the druid have a level attributed to their elemental school (water)? None of the other mages with a secondary school have this...and I can't find anything that references how this effects anything. So...what does it do? Can anyone let me know, and point me to where it explains it if you can? Thanks.

The answers you seek should be in the Druid vs Necromancer rulebook. Right before you get to the codex stuff.

Basic answer is that she's only trained in level one water spells. Any other water spells she treats as untrained.

Anything else I can help with?

Ah, totally overlooked that somehow. That's kind of what I assumed it would be, but wasn't sure. I figured it'd be simple. ;P Thanks again

But how do you count the card called "Holy Rain" or sth like that, which  is 1lvl holy & 1lvl water. how many points in spellbook Druid needs to use for that spell. I see two possibilities: 3 pts (2*1lvl holy + 1lvl water) or it can also be treated as level 2 spell so 4 points.

You would calculate the cost against each school. So the 3 point answer is correct (2*1lvl holy + 1*1lvl water)

It would be 4 points.

Actually the elemental wand is only 2 points if you are schooled in that school

However since she only has level 1 in water,  (can only take level 1 water spells at 1 x multiplier,)    her cost is 4, 2 x 2 for being unschooled.

Note that   The elemental wand is "or".   water or wind or earth or fire

My friend thought it would be three since she has level 1 training

1 point for level 1 and 3 points for the level 2 and 5 points for level 3 and so on because the first level of the spell would get the discount (the level 2 spell would be discounted 1 point because she discounted level 1 part)

Druids are trained in level one Water spells. They pay double for all Water spells above level one, as normal. Level one Water spells will cost one spellpoint, but level three Water spells will cost six.

Hopefully that clears things up.
