If agony is cast on a hydra, how many dice does the hydra use for each of her three attacks?
a) 1+3+3 or b) 1+1+1?
Same question with bear strength: How many dice does the hydra use if enchanted with bear strength?
a) 5+3+3 or b) 5+5+5?
Thanks for your answers in advance.

Agony applies to every attack
Bear Strength only applies to the first in the chain
So 1 1 1
And 3 1 1
-
1,1,1 with Agony
5,3,3 with Bear Strength
3,1,1 with Both.
-
^^ Both correct ^^

Thats new to me aswell, can I ask what is the rule behind it? Also did we play aegis correctly? We played like that if a creature had aegis, and stood in a +1 aegis zone, than hydra attacked him with 1-1-1.
-
Aegis does not stack. Only traits with a +x stack. With aegis, you use the highest number.
-
As a quick guide, if it says +1 it stacks. If it says 1 it doesn't.
So melee +1 and Armor +1 stack, Regenerate 1 and Aegis 1 do not.
-
And the rule behind it is that melee +x has a specific rule that causes it to only apply to the first strike in a multiple attack. If not for that rule, it would apply.
-x lacks that rule, so it modifies all the strikes in an attack.
I'll post the rules quote when I get home.
-
Except for the Hand which states +1 Melee trait until the end of the round...
-
Melee +X
This creature gains +X Attack dice when it makes a melee attack. If the attack makes multiple attacks against the same or different objects, it gains this bonus only for the first attack it can make with this bonus. Does not grant a melee attack if this creature does not have one. Does not affect ranged attacks, damage barriers, or other non-melee attacks.
Multiple Attacks
Some attacks consist of multiple separate attacks against the same or different targets. Multiple attacks include those with the Doublestrike, Triplestrike, or Sweeping traits.
sIKE, there's no exception for the Hand of Bim-Shalla. The creature gets +1 melee until the end of the round, but +1 melee only adds an attack die to the first attack you can make with the bonus, within a given melee attack. A Hydra with Melee +1 from a Hand attacks at 4,3,3.
It's important to note, though, that if you use Battle Fury, the second attack is a completely separate attack sequence, and you will get the benefits of the Hand on your second attack action.

Yes that does make since.

I did not realise hydra could be made totally useless by a spell that cost 1-2 spell points
as a bit of related maths about hydra triple strike from my excel creature battle simulator I found that against creatures with 2-4 armour you get more damage output from +1 pearcing (affects all strikes) then +1 mele (only single strike)
-
Now that's interesting! :D
But yes, Hydra is Agony bait.

Thank you for the rules clarification, we are only beginners so we keep forgetting some rules, but it makes sense now:).
-
Ring and Para 1 sticker each. BTW thanks for the help.

Also, to clarify: at this time there are no "Melee -X" effects in the game. There are effects which reduce the number of attack dice you roll for certain attacks (like Agony and Aegis) but there are no effects yet that say "Melee -X". If we were to print one, we would be sure to update the rulebook to clarify how they worked.
