Title: 2 questions, magebane & MC cost

Dear mages, first off, thanks alot for all the info and clarification I have found on this forum!
There were 2 things I did not find however and I wanted to check that I do this right:

1: Magebane, cast on a mage, does this mean that this mage gets 1 direct damage every time when casting all spells from the spellbook including summon creature etc? ( basically everything you do with your mage except attacking, moving and revealing enchantment causes 1damage? )

2: Mana cost of Mind control, 2X it says, this means that reavealing will cost 20/21/22 etc amount of mana?

No. attack spell considered as attacking. and if you cast attack spell you gets 1 damage from Magebane. (Perhaps there will be "move spells"  in the future :) )


2. 2X means 2 * X

Both correct

2X = 2*X = 2 times X = X+X = Double X

Thanks for the reply!

To be absolutely clear for myself and anyone wondering about this:

creature I want to MC is lvl 3 (for example)

- 3x3 = 9 mana to reveal, then upkeep +3 per turn

or should it be, like I thought in the first place:

- 2X(=3) = 23 mana to reveal, then upkeep +3 per turn  ( like X is the 2nd number but it always starts @ 20)

Where did I not look to find this info in the manual? or am I just overcomplicating/misunderstanding? :P

2X means X + X as Shadow said. Not X * X. If X is 3, the reveal cost is 6. Not 9. Not 23. 6. The upkeep cost is then 3.
