Title: Does the defense shield/stat ability apply to enchantments?
Post by: Texan85 on May 13, 2013, 12:50:28 PM
So I finally got a buddy to break down and play, took three and a half hours (he isn't much of a gamer or nerd) but anyway I was wondering if casting an enchantment on a Mage or creature that has the defense trait requires a role.

Defense works only with the attacks.

So which kind of attack does Explode make? :P

It doesn't make a melee, ranged, or zone attack as far as I can tell.

Which is also anything with the red attack die icon as well.

None of the above. Which is why it doesn't receive any +melee, +ranged or +elemental bonuses.

That was my point.

It is an attack generated by an incantation. Basically turning an equip into shrapnel.  It does not have a type for a reason. It was a long talk in playtest about making untyped attacks but in that case it needed to be done.

Under normal methods you can not avoid zone attacks.  ;)
