how does your druid stop adramelech
« on: November 17, 2014, 04:54:36 PM »
I am working on a slow druid and i anticipate a problem resisting strong flyers(level 5 angels and especailly [mwcard=MW1C01]Adramelech, Lord of Fire[/mwcard]). weaker fliers can be a problem, but i have a [mwcard=DNC06]Kralathor, The Devourer[/mwcard] and guards.

The current plan to neutralize a flying big is sleep -> quicksand with an intercepting guard in the zone.
To delay them, I can [mwcard=MW1I15]Knockdown[/mwcard]and stuck them with [mwcard=DNQ08]Vinewhip Staff[/mwcard].

I dont like [mwcard=MW1I01]Banish[/mwcard], because the game will last many turns.

I guess i am looking for ideas, both for killing them and neutralizing them. i guess a forcehold might be good.

Get a Guardian Angel. For only 6 SP you have the best guard of the game.

i do have a GA, but, the sweeping fire attack sounds like a problem. Plus I'd like a counter which is not easy to counter afterwards with one spell.

forcehold can be dispelled
GA can be moved or tanglevined, slammed, ect
Stuck/Quicksand can be teleported out of (unless you nullify too)

[mwcard=MW1E25]Maim Wings[/mwcard] into a death alley of [mwcard=DNC21]Thornlasheres[/mwcard], [mwcard=DNW01]Bloodspine Wall[/mwcard], and [mwcard=DNC20]Vine Snapper[/mwcard]. Should do the triack and then let [mwcard=DNC06]Kralathor, The Devourer[/mwcard] gobble him up.

What sIKE says. The key is to make him loose his Flying trait. Once you've thrown an Acid Ball at him, 14 Life aren't that much for such a big hitter. And without Flying, you can drag him through your cheap Bloodspine Walls (and away from his Mage so he cannot support him - you might want to Tanglevine the Mage for that).

Alternative if you are okay with playing no-plant creatures: [mwcard=MWSTX1CKC03]Galador, Protector of Straywood[/mwcard] (he will need support, though).

Yup, I think I'm going with maim wings and Stuck via vinewhip staff. Seems like the best option. I wanted knockdown, but a permanent knockdown for 2 more mana is better. he'll have to dispel the curse and teleport out of the stuck to be fully effective again.

yes I can use galador, but you'd need more than that to take down the lord of fire. Like...2 galadors.

If you can get him in a corner, you can maim wings and then Wall of Earth him in. Since his only attacks are flame based he is trapped. It is worth a giggle or two when you can pull it off.

A crazy idea would be to have in your spellbook and cast Adramelech before the opponent. Sure it is 14 SP but you are safe from him, surprise your opponent and has an avantage vs mirror match against other druids.

The way my Druid stop lord of fire (or any other big creature is too cats acid ball and then use thorn lasher and kralathor. Adremelec doesn't have much healt for such high mana cost that's why I don't play him very often.

Guardian Angel is great, and probably the tactically soundest option, but The warlock just spent 20+ mana on a creature, you could always do the same and cast Togorah, Forest Sentinel.  I've found he works really well against Adramelech, and he's more thematic for the druid.  Acid ball is definitely a must against LoF.

Would a Giant Wolf Spider help with their ranged Stuck attack or would the rule that a creature cannot gain or lose the Flying trait during an attack action prevent the ranged attack condition from taking effect?

You can use Stuck conditions to lock down a Lord of Fire. The creature gaining the Stuck condition just won't lose flying until the end of the attack sequence.

Tarok The Sky Hunter+Bear Strength (or Lion Savagery) will generally make short work of him, and at very effective spellcost/casting cost compared to what the opponent spent on Addy.

My Druid runs Tarok.  If I see the enemy warlock drop a crystal and run on 1st turn out comes Tarok + Bear Strength while my vine tree entangles the warlock.
