Spellbook Design and Construction / Re: The Johktari RUSHmaster
« on: December 21, 2014, 06:42:13 AM »
Hi, my son plays a Johktari that starts shooting with a bow with 5 dice from turn 2. I find that even more annoying since all I do to prevent it (intercept, walls, pushes) cost me mana while his 5 dice attacks are "free".

General Discussion / Codex that includes FiF?
« on: December 16, 2014, 04:27:20 AM »
Hi,

Is there a combined pdf with all the keywords that includes Forged in Fire somewhere. The official Codex doesn't seem to include the latest keywords.

Player Feedback and Suggestions / Re: Bringing all mages on par!

I would just like to add that I don't think card erratas are problematic, at all. This is competitive play we are discussing. I don't think casual players will run into the problems we are discussing. All hobby/competitive gamers can keep a large number of erratas in their heads. If a slight chance of wizard stats would be efficient, just do it.

I think the probability should be closer to 1 in a milion for the two consecutive rolls. There are 5 ways of getting 4 blanks and 1 normal damage so:

p =  [ (5 * (2/3)^4) * 1/6 *1/12 ]^2 = 7.4e-7

but that is if you roll two times and only two times.

If you make several rolls over the course of a game (or several games), you have to consider that any of them can be the above. The probability for two of this roll to occur at least twice over, say thirty rolls (435 ways of arranging 2 rolls over 30 rolls total) is:

435 * p^2 * (1-p)^28 = 0.0003

Still unlikely, but not astronomical. And as Aylin suggests, this is only when looking at this particular result. The probability for any 2 results (no matter what result) to be identical over the course of 30 rolls, is higher of course.

There can still be a bug in the random generator I guess.

Resilient makes the zombie horde very hard to kill. Maybe if resilient had an errata saying: "Piercing X attacks may convert X normal damage to critical when attacking a resilient object."

I agree, this is the best tie breaker proposal out there.

And the current ruling is that they are basically elusive?

Those people aren't going to use the pre-built decks anyway. The pre-built decks are for the casuals, who are not going to have 4 bobcats which require 2 core sets or multiple of the same spell tome.

Ok, fine. That is true.

I suggest just skipping the pre-built deck lists from now on then to not disappoint anyone. The core-set + FM&WL set should be more than enough to satisfy the casual gamers I think.

I really disagree with the OP.

I would much rather see more frequent, smaller expansions, than big ones where some cards are reprints just to satisfy those few people who "have to have all decks built at once without being 'forced' to buy multiple packs".

MtG is another example where tolerance for out of house IP use seems pretty relaxed. Tons of fan built deckbuilders out there for MtG.

Spellbook Design and Construction / Re: Warlord deck

Did you have any luck with this deck? I find the Warlord really tough to win with...

Or, you just license it to them...

Jesus, Fantasy Flight Games, for example, has tons of sites that "use their IP" for deckbuilders etc. Same with Privateer Press.

Can you give a concrete example of a company that has "lost control of their IP" due to fan sites and fan created apps?
