Tournament Report: Wounded Warrior Mace 2015
« on: November 15, 2015, 09:19:15 AM »
12 Mage Warriors stepped into the arena to fight it out at the Mace gaming convention in Charlotte NC yesterday. This is becoming a highlight of the convention as several non-Mage Wars players constantly stopped in to watch a little, ask how it was going, and we even managed a demo in the middle of it. Here's the roster:

Judges: Ben(Silverclawgrizzly), Andrew(Jasonbournezombie), Adam(Magerunner)

Players:
Jay: Araxian Crown Warlock
Logan: Araxian Crown Warlock
Rob: Adramelech Warlock
James: Adramelech Warlock
John: Force Master
Sarah: Force Master
Joe: Priestess
Brian: Priestess
Lars: Druid
Alex: Wizard(Earth)
Jimillia: Necromancer
Josh: Bloodwave Warlord

Winners:
1st: Lars
2nd: Jimillia
3rd: Alex
4th: Josh

Report:

Round by round pairings will be listed later so for now I'll just go with some overall notes.

-Biblofilter won the event. He used the ole Force Push/Wall of Thorns trick to good effect. We don't see that trick much around here and it caught a number of people off guard.

-Yes only one Wizard. Played by Lord of Winter it was a very solid book. His only loss came from the Druid.

-A lot of my newer players are getting very good very fast. It reminds me of how important pairings are in an event like this.

-The two previous winners of this event: Joe and John played each other in Round 1. Everyone was thrilled about this :)

-Jimillia had I think the hardest road. She fought Logan who almost beat her last year and then the two previous champs on her way to Biblofilter.

-We gave out two good sportsmanship awards. Honestly I could have given out more.

-3 players Jay, James, and Sarah had an emergency and had to leave after Round 3.

-1 player withdrew from the event after realizing he'd won only after having forgot to pay upkeep for the majority of his match. His opponent was given the win. He withdrew so as to avoid creating a bye round from the previous three withdrawals.

-The final match was very intense. It came down to the wire and could have gone either way.

-We made our goal for Wounded Warrior with a little extra change.

CONGRATULATIONS TO BIBLOFILTER!!!!! 2015 MACE WOUNDED WARRIOR CHAMPION!!!

What we must all remember is no matter the game we were all newbies at one point.

Big Gratz. Hope to see him kicking ass on Octgn more often again :)
Akiro, I have never prayed to you before. No one will remember if we were good men or bad. Why we fought, or why we died. All that matters is that one stood against many. That's what's important! Valor pleases you, Akiro... so grant me strength! And if you do not listen, then to HELL with you!
