Title: Cascading wave and nullify?
Post by: farkas1 on July 01, 2017, 08:37:50 PM
A friend of mine had his creature hit by cascading wave than his Mage was targeted with the second push but he has a nullify on does the second push proceed with the Mage or is the spell nullified before the push?

Well, since you only have to target once (the first creature) and the origin of the second push is the creature and not the initial forcepush, I'd say nullify does not activate.

Cascading Force Wave reads: "...you may pay 3 mana to Push a different creature in that zone one zone in any direction, and repeat this process."

No mention of targeting the different creature, so only the initial creature is ever targeted by anything. Nullify specifically says it only triggers when the creature it's attached to is targeted by an Incantation. Since the Mage is not being targeted by an incantation, the Nullify does not trigger.

Basically what Enti said.

Thematically, you can think of it as they had a creature pushed into them rather than having a spell cast on them.
