Card "Confusion" ( eligible target for this attack)
« on: March 10, 2017, 04:13:51 AM »
In Lost Grimoire volume 1,
There is a card "Confusion"

Confusion (2x)
2/X mana
Enchantment,Psychic. lvl 2 Mind
Mind mage only
When this creature declares a melee attack (including a
counterstrike), roll the effect die.On a 7+, this creature
randomly chooses an eligible target for this attack.
X=Target creature level

So  an enemy forcemaster cast a " Confusion" on my bear in the same zone ,
(and in that zone, there are only  my creature and that enemy forcemaster)
when my bear declare a attack , he roll a effect dice that less than 7 (the "Confusion "effect)

Because it is written in FAQ  : "creature can attack himself,"
I will need to random choose  target  (enemy forcemaster  and that bear himself)
to attack randomly.

Is it right?

Thanks

correct. it is random and includes itself as eligible since it is eligible.

Random eligible target includes anything that you could legally target with the type of attack in question. This does include the attacker potentially hitting themself, unless they are immune to their own attack like Adramelech.

There is a slight issue in that the only eligible target for a counterstrike is the creature that provoked the counterstrike, so the "random" roll would have only one possible outcome in that situation. However, from conversations I had with Aaron before he left, the intention of the card is to allow it to break the normal rules and attack other targets with the counterstrike. So, I don't know if you'll want to play by the rules as written or the rules as intended in that situation. It will probably receive a supplement entry and/or errata in the future to clarify.

it's interesting that you are allowed to attack yourself with this card. They have issued other statements in the past saying that with Sweeping that if there is only one target, plus yourself, you don't hit yourself.

That's because Sweeping is optional. You CAN attack yourself with Sweeping if you would like to.
