General Discussion / Re: Status of Tabletopia Module
« on: November 05, 2015, 06:53:02 PM »

Can you turn off ALL automations on octgn? Last time I checked some automations were just built in.
Well I guess you can "turn" off Phase Changes, but if you never press the Crtl+Down or Ctrl+Enter you would ignore all of that automation. I mean if people are really interested, I can create a game button that loads a board and turns EVERYTHING off. Meaning no spellbook validation, phase mgmt., processing, card attachments and BC turned off. You would be responsible for everything...

Aside from the spellbook validation being removed, making a version where everything else is manual would be awesome!

Not really... The first time you would reset all markers and run through each burn at your commuter you'll start to enjoy automatisation :)

League / Tournament Play / Re: Suggested Rule change for cons

Hmm...
Mage Wars is about killing your opponent. If you use a time limit, time is up and nobody is dead (even if close) there can simply be no winner. Tie. Besides both knowing the hurry no decision was made.
For the simplicity and matching mainidea I would say the one who is closest to being dead loses for being so deadish.

General Discussion / Re: Mage Wars Companion App - Feature Requests
« on: October 29, 2015, 05:05:09 AM »
I have it on my phone already. No problem.
Just extract the apk with a simple app like app saver, put it your drive, and then install it at your phone.

Thanks a lot fas723! That worked easy and the app is running smooth as I guessed.
Even more I wonder why they don't open it up at google play. I think more people would use it that way.

Now I start waiting for updates like import/export of spellboooks :D

Mages / Re: Top-Tier viable mages?

As said, I really hope and I am willing to believe AW has a secret masterplan for wizard. I would love to see him as a flexible trickster rather than a brutal attacker with tower-autoinclude.

At the moment I don't see why Arcane Wonders is acting like they are, but I guess neither the wizard himself nor the tower will get errataed. The topic had been discussed a thousand times with very good ideas and simple solutions (like spellbind or epoc on WT, or triplepay for one school) and the tournament results are pretty solid wizardish. In nearly every post or interview in this forum the Wizardquestion is asked or discussed. Players start to not play him for it is getting boring. The new focus seems to be more in playing creative.
And this is where I think we will end. The wizard will get stronger and stronger and it is not gonna change. The players will change around it and accept it as a challenge.

Rules Discussion / Re: About Immunity
« on: October 24, 2015, 02:14:38 PM »
And what about Idol of Pestilence? During the Upkeep Phase each living creature receives 1 point of direct poison damage. Is that poisoning targeting all living creatures in the arena (not working on banished - I see the wording of banish is making that exception though) or just applying them directly? If it is targeting all living creatures (regardless of LoS for it is affecting the whole arena) it would never be playable as long as a necromancer is on the board. If immunity is making him an illegal target, the spell is illegal. Completely logical and intuitiv is that he is targeted and just ignores that damage because he is immune.

Sorry of I am totally wrong on how i think direct damage works.

Anyway I would also say ig there is a flame immune creature standing in front of you as a guard, thematically you are as safe a you can hide againt a melee fire attack. The guard is attacked because of guarding and lauges at it. Then he is normally allowed to hit back.
Let me compare it to a security guard with kevlar-vest standing in front of a superstar. As an attacker you cannot shoot that star. Sure you can shoot at his security agent. That will not affect him for he is immune (by his vest) against bullets. If he gets shot he is then definitely able to shoot back with his own weapon using the sand kind of bullets.
Playing that way as also Borg has mentioned is incredibly thematically perfect.

Please note that I don't want to shoot any superstar, neither should you do :D

Wow Borg, that Strategie is indeed really promising. Well done so far!

I just realize that amazing combination of spiked pit and poison gas cloud. Or tanglevine and the cloud. I just wish there would be a way to stop that easy teleport out of all such problems. I have not really seen domination or academy cards, so maybe blur and cards I don't know will help out there. Well nullify and jinx work...

General Discussion / Re: Mage Wars Companion App - Feature Requests
« on: October 20, 2015, 05:32:31 PM »
It has been a while since somebody asked again for a mobile version for the companion app. I fully respect routes needed to make it work propperly.

BUT I don't get it what's the big deal with freeing the app for mobile devices. I bet my smartphone has double of all technical features than my tablet. More pixels, more processor, more all. And I really use it all the time while the tablet is at home. I bite my ass for knowing the would work fine for sure and it just lacks a permission. With root and faking around I could make it work, but that would brake down other apps.

What is the point? I guess the app would be used much more and intense when available for mobile devices. Even with minor bugs like scrolling at unhappy places. More users = more talk about mage wars = more interested new players = more new players learning cards and thinking of spellbooks on the road = more creative strategies and so on...

Can someone please release the app for mobile in the way it is? It can not be that hard and or disgusting in it's optic

Mages / Re: Top-Tier viable mages?
« on: October 20, 2015, 04:52:08 PM »
I totally agree about WT is too much a topic. My idea was not a realistic one as I mentioned. Making him usable for all Mages would destroy Mage Wars quite a bit. As Ballista does a bit in it's actual version.
Making Ballista with its power Warlord only and reducing Wizards Advance in any way (or doing this by errataing the tower) could change the Top Tier MageList. That brings this Topic back to the question by the way :D

My idea was to make only wizard tower accessible to all mages to make his overpowering shared fairly. Mixing it all would be out of any theme.

Player Feedback and Suggestions / Re: About Holy Attack Spells...

Maybe adding a conjuration that tuns Light Damage to all crits?!

Something like that.
Zone exclusive, cost 7mana, 5life, 2armor, aegis1 on conjurations zone, all dealt light damage gets all critical.

Mages / Re: Top-Tier viable mages?

Another idea I have never read so far (I think) is removing the “wizard only“ trait and make wizard tower accessible to all mages. The bad thing is that this would make WT an auto-include in every book. That would mess up the whole game.

And still Wizard would need a tripple-paid school to be more balanced.

By the way because it was mentioned before: making ballista warlord only would make totally sense in my eyes! He is THE controller of war machinery and no one else.

Mages / Re: Top-Tier viable mages?
« on: October 17, 2015, 01:49:30 PM »
.... Even the mage I see as the weakest (the forcemaster) has plenty of competitively and non-competitively viable ways to play. It's more a matter of someone (or multiple people) taking the time to develop how to play a mage than it is the mage's inherent abilities.

Wow, so you really think forcemaster is the weakest? That means you think there is a good way to play the malakai priest? I would love to see that :) ! For my opinion his holy avanger is very situational and there are not strong enough light attacks out so far.

Too the topic

Wizard tower: spellbound would fix it in my eyes, too.
Wizard hinself: I also don't understand that AW starts acadamy with him. Feels unlucky. But making him pay more for untrained schools could fix it. The point really is, that he can use nearly all new cards and strategies coming.

TopTier and the domination of wizards are 2 topics in 1. For tournaments aggro wizard seems super efficient. But for creative fun play without time limit others are way better. Looking at late game strategies

General Discussion / Re: Quality of Arcane Wonders Product
« on: October 05, 2015, 07:51:57 PM »
I don't know the quality of battlegrounds so far (and also living i Germany i wonder where you already got a box from... ). But the quality changed already between my two core sets. The second got thinker and softer markers. Not that compressed. But what annoys me the most is that the  markers are all cut out about 1cm beside the printings. So there 3/4 printed markers now. Just ugly. I did't send it in for i wanted to play a 4 player game that day.
