Title: Use of Shock and/or Ridgeback Skunk's ability?
Post by: john99 on March 07, 2016, 01:12:35 PM
Hi All,

Newbie Academy player here...

We've been playing Academy for about a week now and love the game.  I do have a question, though, about Shock and Ridgeback Skunk's ability.

Both of them put the Stagger condition on an attacking creature.

What we don't understand is what use that is?

Once a creature attacks, it's done for that turn, so what's the point of Staggering it?

Thanks!

The creature keeps the stagger condition marker until the End of it's NEXT activation.  Therefore, you will always have a turn with the stagger on.

I think I see now.  Thank you!!

That is really confusing nomenclature, in particular this paragraph in the rules "When you choose a creature to act with, it is called activating that creature. Taking its action is known as a creature activation."  That's just many uses of "Active, Activate, Activating..."

Our added confusion is what happens during the Reset Creatures phase, i.e. turning your creatures to the "active" state.  We all thought *that* was when stagger was supposed to be removed.
