the whole affair seems incredibly onerous imo.
Really? Really? Really? It's free, development is done out of joy and love of the game. I would think not having to cleanup my spellbook after the game as a great positive, not having to cleanup the markers after the game as a great positive, keeping track of mana, like, etc. a great positive. Having to click in the chat screen to type something and then click anywhere else on the game screen one time, as at the most slightly annoying.

I don't want to chase anyone off, I am just trying to put in a comparative analysis in and I might be a bit incredulous as being one of the two people currently putting in the hours to make this implementation the best that we can.
I find OCTGN amazing for all the positive aspects you mentioned! Im sure after a couple of games most players will be grateful for everything it offers. Glad youre spending your time making it better and pls keep doing it! Cant live without OCTGN! ;)

Totally agree with Charmyna! Long live OCTGN!!! ;)

General Discussion / Re: New Mage Wars Promos available.
« on: January 19, 2014, 03:17:30 AM »

Unless I am mistaken, all promos will be released in future sets. So everybody will be able to get these cards in the future in normal sets. People just buy the promos in order to have them early.

Secondly, most play groups have house rules that do not allow the use of promos because they give advantages to people who buy them and nobody else. Tournaments also have a no promo rule.

1) RENEWING SPRING: in a non-Priestess deck, it's still viable??? Or it far more better Healing Wand and/or Purify??? I felle that losing an action is a very high price to pay for my creatures...

The advantage to the spring is precisely that you use the action of the creature to heal it, rather than the action of your mage. It works best if you have a lot of creatures, for instance a bitterwood swarm, since it might otherwise not be feasible to heal them all.

Another advantage of the spring is that you can heal and remove conditions at the same time, whereas the wand can heal or remove, but not both at the same time.

Putting aside the difference in efficacy between the two spells, I would say that if you value your mage's actions highly or have a large number of creatures, you should go with the spring, whereas if you value your creatures' actions highly or have very few creatures you should go with the wand.

My trouble is that with a non-active Mage (not involved in battle) it's better to heal with it and stay aggro with creatures... 3 die are normally 3 wounds removed, while if the creature attacks, it has almost always more than 3 die.

Btw, in a druid deck, which card would you choose?

THX!

Spells / Questions about two spells...
« on: January 17, 2014, 04:27:35 AM »
Hi guys,

i don't have so much experience right now with MW, but i've built some decks in OCTGN and sometimes i win...!  ;D

Btw, i'd wish to ask you opinions about 2 cards that made me think...

1) RENEWING SPRING: in a non-Priestess deck, it's still viable??? Or it far more better Healing Wand and/or Purify??? I felle that losing an action is a very high price to pay for my creatures...

2) HUGINN: in an Harmo-Gate deck, how can he helps? Why i have to summon it instead of (for example) a Gorgon Archer o another Golem/Jelly/Hydra??? Yes, he has Def, but an Unavoidable spell kills it immediately....

Really glad to read you  :)

Custom Cards / "QuickEvoke"
« on: January 07, 2014, 05:12:12 PM »
I am referring to this post :
http://forum.arcanewonders.com/index.php?topic=13469.msg28227#new

in which  i talk about special type of creatures that "do something" when they enter play. For Example:

BOG FIRE
School: Fire 1 & Dark 1
Mana Cost: 6
Full-Cast Action
0-0 - Zone
No Armor
3 Life
Quick Melee ATK 1D Ethereal : 9+ Burn
Flying, Incorporeal, Nonliving
When Fire Spark enters play, you may put a Burn marker on a non-Mage opposing creature in the same zone.

ROYAL HEALER
School: Holy 2
Mana Cost: 8
Full Cast Action
0-0 Zone
0 Armor
6 Life
Quick Melee ATK 2D
When Royal Healer enters play, you may roll 2D and heal that many damage to your Mage.

WAR SMITH
School: War 3
Mana Cost: 10
Full Cast Action
0-0 Zone
2 Armor
8 Life
Quick Melee ATK 3D Piercing 1
Unique, Tough -1
When War Smith enters play, you may put a Stun marker on him. If you do so, choose and reveal an equipment card with a mana cost of 3 or lower and equip it to your Mage.

More to come...

Spellbook Design and Construction / Re: Wizard Build help
« on: January 06, 2014, 02:02:54 PM »
Hi!

Reading your spellbook, i cannot understand if you choose the mana denial way or not... my suggestions will follow the non-denial route.

Imho, i'd prefer Hawkeye over Lightning Ring (Hawkeye works also with Wiz zzap!) and Mage Staff over Staff of Arcanum (personally i don't play both); i think that Leather Gloves and Boots are almost mandatory ... forcing you to play Battle Forge! ;)

So:

-1 Lightning Ring
-1 Staff Arcanum
-1 Suppression Cloak
-1 Mana Crystal
-1 Mana Leech

+1 Hawkeye
+1 Leather Gloves
+1 Leather Boots
+1 Battle Forge
+1 Hydra/Grizzly (unsure here...just check spellbook's total point left...)

Enough for now, lemme know! ;)

Player Feedback and Suggestions / [Suggestion/Idea] New type of creature
« on: January 06, 2014, 07:46:38 AM »
Hi guys,

i was wondering if in the next sets could be introduced a brand new kind of creatures ( i'll call them "QuickEvoke").

I was thinking something like that (Just an example):

FireSpark
(mana costs, health, armor & abilities are not important here...)
"When this creature enters play (or cast or summoned...) put a Burn marker on an opposing non-Mage creature in the same zone."

or

Rabid Manticore
(...)
"When this creature enters play, it may immediately perform his printed Ranged Attack."

Opinions?

Thx & cya!
