Where can we see the mages and their stats cards?

I guess you could buy the set with the Mage in question.

Spells / Re: Frost Cards!!!!!

When I got Elementalist, I started to make a Frost Wizard... but couldn't find enough in synergies to make it work. The Wizard then was going to focus on Air... and eventually ended up a generic mix of Air and Lightning as that seemed to be the most flexible build.

But yes, I tried... and gave up.

Actually, Turn to Stone might be another spell that would work well with dissipate rather than upkeep.

From the beginning, I liked the way that Turn to Stone was different from Banish in its impact... fixed time for Banish, but Turn to Stone could be handled through Dispel, etc. I would not change Turn to Stone to a dissipate mechanic.

I thought that rage would only be added if the damage remained on the creature. Since it was redirected, didn't that invalidate the rage?

I will put a note here early to gauge interest... sometime before we have to put the events in next year.

I can see Wizards maybe packing a Wind Wyvern Hide now due to more air attacks recently... especially the range zero zone attack. I think that I had one in Champaign.

I've used Turn to Stone in the past, but that was within the first year or two... so it's been a while.

While Vigilant won't make a difference if the NV doesn't do anything but go on guard each turn, I'd still think that the lowest cost creature would be the way to go when there are pluses and minuses on each. You will want more than one, so the lower the cost the better. It's a shame that the Gargoyle is opposed school... I think that one would be the best for this. I can't see spending sbp's for a couple of them....

Well and a person who dont plays academy, dont need it at all.

Of course they do... it is better and usable in Arena.

My personal preferences:

I understand the idea of having Slavorg in this book, but I have to say that when I put together a book with a number of smaller animals and Slavorg, I never felt like I had him out long enough, and so many other creatures died before having him out that he had too little support. It might just be the way that I played... I don't know... just sharing my experiences with him. I tend to leave him out in these kinds of books now.

You might want to put in a swarm or two... they are great for getting past armor. The Lifetree, mentioned earlier, would be especially important if you had them.

I would rather have a Rock and a Boulder than three Rocks. Also, I might turn one of the Minor Heals into two Mends or a Group Mend or somesuch... or turn them into a Heal, if both are intended for use on the BM. I get the mana efficiency, but you get more healing in a single action... just my preference.

I like the overall feel of it, even if, I personally can't bring myself to pay that much in SBP for skellies (makes sense how it could be advantageous.

In the past when I did a Necro skeleton book, I put an armory in it... I guess it's just how many SBP's you want to spend between Dark and War, and how much you want Mage/School specific stuff.

Inasmuch as events are due tomorrow, and there is only one other who would join us... I will not be putting in any events this year.

Just putting out feelers of interest in Mage Wars events at Whosyercon this year. We have until 2/15 to put in events.

This is a totally free con... not general badge costs, no event costs... just free (unless you are needing a room at a hotel or something.)

Would anyone be available to play in WYC Mage Wars events?

Not dead so long as we keep playing it.

No new releases does not equal a dead game. There has not been an expansion to chess for 1000 years...
I agree with your first point.

As far as chess goes here are some 'expansions' for consideration. :)

A list of chess 'expansions'
https://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeksearch.php?action=search&objecttype=boardgame&q=chess&B1=Go

Two versions that looked interesting to me.

Glyph Chess (plays 2 or 3 players)

I've kickstarted this game because a good 3-player games are hard to find.

Chessplus (a new version from an Australian company that allows a player to combine pieces and use the movement of either piece. Very clever.)

Don't forget Fisherrandom... I loved playing that variation when it was more popular.

Yeah, I didn't have a tower in my book... if I had, I would have not included the Gale Force Ring. I put in a couple of walls (Thorns, Poison Gas) and wanted to have a 2+ push on my Jet Streams, which is why the ring was really in there.
