Title: Tanglevine & flyers
Post by: Mutter on November 22, 2015, 11:36:58 AM
In a couple of videos (final Thunderdome II, for example), people were using [mwcard=MW1J22]Tanglevine[/mwcard] to negate a Watch-marker from a flyer.

Am I missing something? Tanglevine explicitly states that flyers can't be targetted, but seeing it used in a number of high-profile matches leads me to believe there's something I'm not sseing.

I've checked the errata, too ...

Okay, I think I've got it: being on Watch, they are not considered flyers anymore and can thus be tanglevined?

That must be it ...

Yeah I think you worked it out.  By watch I think you mean guard (the game term).  When a flyer guards it loses flying for the turn.

You are correct. When a flying creature guards it loses the flying trait until the guard marker is removed. In this way one can target a formerly flying creature with tanglevine, stranglevine, surging wave etc.

Okay, thanks.
That's been bothering me. :)

Guard, yes - got it confused with the German "Wache" ...
