I love MW (with it's expension rythme, etc., etc.) and I don't need what seems to be a totally new game (controlling orbs).

My question is:
will the new cards of this expension add something for the "ancient way" of playing MW (paf you're dead!), or should I wait to command the next expension?

Hi, i was thinking similar few months ago, that i don't need new type of game in MW and only what i want is new mages and more spells. I've changed my mind after watching/listening/reading one of some news about what it exactly is going to be. I don't remember where was it exactly, but thing that convinced me was spells which are connected with those V'tars, so it's not just places which i only need to take, guard but also use some spells which are designed for those kind of places (i hope it's true, because i think i saw it somewhere :P). For me that is very neat, but apart from that i like also fact that we can create map from tiles we get in expansion and of course whole new type of game will make me think about different strategies and spellbook creation and that sounds great, really can't wait. Hope there won't be big delay in Poland.

in my opinion iNano78's response was brilliant :)

Alternative Play / Re: Randomness and variance

@Moloch, yes you are right that for incorporeal that should be some other algorithm like for example yours :)

i have also in mind one different solution but of course it also has it's drawbacks. that each player have 6 dices - each one with one of the possible result (0, 0, 1, 1c, 2, 2c), and when he should use dices he can choose which dices he will use. You can use each die only once until other dices are chosen, than you start from the beginning with 6 dices.  It's probably far from best solution but i just got it in my mind.

if players "played equally" luck will be  the factor, that's obvious :)

about this topic. it's interesting idea, but i would rather not mixing two solutions (static rolls and  dice rolls). i would go one way or another. you can assume that one die is 1 hit, and every 2 dices are critical hit. so if your attack would be 3 dices you have 2 normal + 1 critical damage, and if you have 4 dices attack it will be 2 normal + 2 critical dmg. i think it's more solid solution than mixing rolling dices with not rolling. i know it can change value of some cards, but if you want to reduce randomness you can think about something like that. I'm going to stay with Akiro's favour! :D

many times it's just how people think about rolling. my friend likes to complaint on dices but in my opinion many times he is overreacting. i just take it as it is, once i have good roll another time bad., it's just the part of the game.  i think people likes to blame dices not thyself.

i've voted for bigger size, because it will just look better. i think not everybody will buy it but rather people who really are deep into Mage Wars and/or don't  have problems to spend money for sth. unnecessary. That's why i think "the bigger are better" :) I've also think  that they can be unpainted so it will allow more customization, but if they will be painted it is also cool.

If we are talking about packing them , i'm standing for same packages as sets (4+2+2) or  each mage separate, so everybody can choose exactly which mage he wants and how many :P (but it seems to be more expensive to buy).

Spells / Re: Cerberus and Beastmaster

i think Cerberus in regular game doesn't have much use at this moment, but it can have in Domination mode when it will be released. Also maybe in the future there will some interesting Dark conjurations which will need guards more then now.

Spells / Re: What do you think about Ballista?
« on: November 18, 2014, 11:57:05 AM »
i've also didn't play with/against Ballista, but have same feeling that it can be too powerful. Make it full action to cast can slow down this tactics a bit. i'm wondering if in the future there will be some spell (incantation / creature) or mage ability which will allow to add token for War Machine subtypes conjurations :)

if we are talking about Screech Harpy, just to be clear, those full action attack cannot be used versus Conjurations and Psychic immunity creatures (zombies, sekletals, ...).

ooh, i didn't know it's You :)
it's not just about the voice, but also way you speak: break, emphasis, sense of humor, i like it :)

I'm happy that Scott listed my country (Poland), i hope we had better community and i was wondering few times to apply to be an Ambassador, but i have so many activities that i'm not sure if i can handle it (have time for it). i'm going to speak with some friends with whom i'm playing maybe they could help me.

Nice episode, as always :) I really like the way Aaron is speaking.

i would wear armor if i were Warlock. You did good that you cast damage barrier but more armor against quite a lot of creatures would help too. i didn't play Adramelech Warlock yet, but i wonder if there was occasion to transfer some burn on different creatures? for example from timber wolf to opposite Mage? he was going to die anyway (i know that is not game changer but i think good option for next games).

me and my group used same rules as Zuberi (taken from other thread): shared life and shared initiative and option A. everybody likes that solution.
