I am playing to win. If it takes 1 hour or 4 hours, so be it.

I wholeheartedly agree with your reasoning.

It seems I didnt think that thought experiment through. On the other hand, as soon as I put on a mage wand, it will be dissolved. The tome, I get to keep almost every time.

If it's ntt worth Dissolving, then it's clearly not broken...

Either that, or the opponent does not understand the value I get from it. Anyway, only time will tell if it will be used or not. For me it´s a staple.

I think the tome is completely overpowered. It gives you a flexibility the whole game. Imagine for example having a seeking dispel chosen the whole game. Then you can play your ordinary game and know that you always got a SD. And thats just a thought experiment. I can have a dispel the whole game or perhaps a nullify, you get the point.

In my experience it lets you focus on your game with both of your planned cards and still have a backup plan if something bad happens.

General Discussion / Re: The one that got away

Ack, for me it´s the opposite. In a best case scenario I win 50% of the games when playing with 90 minutes time control (And still, thats a very optimistic win rate for me).

But, when we play the long game, I rarely loose. (With long game, I mean everything from 150 minutes to somewhere around 240 minutes when my opponents vital resources are already spent).

It might be that I tire when the game is rushed and then just throw everything at my opponent. If I roll good I might win, but most often not.

Rinc vs Sharkbait.

Rinc entered arena with the forcemaster. Sharkbait used his necromancer.

Even though Rinc got off to a very heavy economy start (15 channeling) without any pressure at all from Sharkbait, he could not transform that into enough lasting power to beat Sharkbait.

Winner, Sharkbait.

Sharkbait 1 - 0 Rinc.

Hold sir,

Just because some think that it is a solid tactical choice, it is perhaps not designed for that purpose. Which brings us to my question, so we can know the intent of the card.

As Zuberi so nicely pointed out, it is indeed in the rulebook.

Personally, I would've been fine with either way. This make it just another parameter to think of when you use your enchantments. Which order is best if we anticipate a seeking dispel.

Johktari beastmaster played by Werekingdom easily snuffed out the life of priest of Malakai played by Rinc.

Thats congratulations number two from me!

Werekingdom 1 - 0 Rinc.

Tournament report:

Thanks to easter holidays and the time troubles that arose Rinc played the dreaded facemelter (credits to Schwenkgott).

P00pstar played the "dreaded" orc warlord (credits to himself I think!).

Rinc started the game with battleforge and mana crystal while P started the game with barracks and construction yard, keeping Rinc guessing as to what exactly his game plan was.

Rinc came out of the gates exploding after that point on. Ring of curses, followed by hawkeye and Akiros favor, while P let his first in a line of many goblin grunts enter the table.

While Rinc kept on pushing on the enchantment side with both Adramelechs touch and marked to death, P kept on summoning grunts from the barracks. P added a battle forge to his "factory like" part of the game board.

And this is where the fun begins. Rinc starts throwing fireballs coupled with flameblasts for 8+ dice. P seemed to have no high armour in the book, just dropping pants and boots. He started to retaliate with the grunts and at the same time putting up an earth wall between him and Rinc who was now alone with the grunts.

The following round saw eagle claw boots from battleforge coming down, followed by a climb up that really scary earth wall and throwing a flameblast in the head of P.

Each round they traded blows, one harder than another. To add insult to injury the burn tokens of Rinc damaged P severely.

When the last round was up, Rinc had taken 25 damage, with 33 life total standing in the same room as P.

P on the other hand had taken 28 damage and had 36 life total.

It was dead equal now but P had the initiative and decided to quick cast hurl boulder, making it 6 damage which left Rinc with only 2 life left. Rinc had a hard time deciding between flameblast or devils trident with P having 1 face down enchantment and 5 armour. The choice fell on trident, taking a chance that P had no block or reverse magic and going for the piercing 2. And he rolled..... .... ... 3 normal (armour absorbed it all) and 7 critical damage, leaving P at 1 single point of life and the winner after his full action went into beating Rincs head in.

P00pstar 1 - 0 Rinc

Congratulations P00pstar.

Rules Discussion / Shuffling cards
« on: March 24, 2016, 11:02:39 AM »
Hi,

I just want to ask if I can shuffle my own face down enchantments on my mage? This can be very helpful, for example before the opponent is going to seeking dispel one of them.

I tried finding this in the rules codex etc, to no avail, so it would be very nice if someone could either point me in the right direction or answer the question.

Player Feedback and Suggestions / Re: Lightning raptor.

Well, since it is unique I can manage without two. But it would've been nice if more were included for the arena games. Everyone I play with bought academy just to use the cards in arena, and I suspect that the majority of players will buy it for just that purpose.

Hopefully 1 more of each of those cards will slip into the next Arena expansion so we dont have to buy another set of academy just to get hold of some cards that is good enough to use in Arena.

After your post I went through all the cards again and I stand corrected sir!

Even though academy was not to my liking, the cards will be well used in my arena games, well done.

When I opened academy I really liked the lightning raptor. Imagine my disappointment when I realised there was only one in the box, but 2 or more of everything else?

At last I got to see what is in that toolbox of yours ;)

My 2 cents.

Force nightmare - Would be nice with more life. If we get a way to make a creature lose life, this creature shouldn´t die immediately. The design is very clean though, and it works against non-living resilient ;)
Nightmare eater - The idea of making two things at once (wolf spider) is okay, but very hard to balance correctly.
Nightmare knight - This is an okay card. I would rather see it make damage to other non-living creatures when daze is removed, instead of healing itself, but that is a design decision. One thing that I wonder is which part of this design is force?
