Title: Walls and Line of sight

Mage                   |  empty zone
wall of fire --------------------------------
 Mage                  | empty zone
------------------------------------------------

Hope you understand the diagram.

let's say the mage at the bottom casts a range 3 spell on the Mage above. As I understand it, I just have to count 3 zones and hit the mage above (right,up, left).. The wall blocks line of sight. Is this possible?

If I understand correctly your diagram - you can not cast a spell on the other mage.
To cast a spell on target you have to have both Line of Sight and Range.
- Line of Sight - which is straight line from your mage to the target - your sight can't turn - you have to be able to draw a stright line from the middle of the zone you are standing on to the middle of the zone where is your target - if there is an obsticle (Wall with sight blocked symbol), you do not have Line of Sight.
If either caster or target has flying, you always have LoS from one to another.

From the way this looks I would say Gewar is correct. We did do I better diagram a while back if I find it you can use it.
