My local group is having a team up event in a few weeks and I was wondering which mages work well with others. I've never played 2v2 before and the only idea I got so far is to have two Necromancers buddy up, one skeletal and one zombie oriented.
-
I was thinking about two Warlords - Bloodwave and Anvil Throne, buffing soldiers (with Horn of Gothos providing an arena-wide buff for friendly soldiers). The second option is a Priest(ess) using her own soldiers and a Warlord, again the Warlord buffs soldiers and pushes forward, while the Priest(ess) heals and/or supports the Warlord.
edit: typo

Yeah really like the Priestess/Warlord Idea too. Royal Archers stay in the back and provide cover fire for a host of dwarves and orc melee fighters to get in close. Could be nasty.
-
I think something neat would be a forcemaster and a swarm spellbook. The forcemaster could be some heavy support of the swarm build or vice versa. Have the forcemaster pound on the other mages while the swarm backs up her attacks.
Either that or a forcemaster and a priestess. Priestess support would come in the form of heavy heals and archer support for the forcemaster. Possibly could support with some good enchantments too
Ive never actually had the opportunity to do a 2v2 match so I not sure how well that combo would work.

Force Master and druid. Deadly pull combo.

Some quick thoughts:
Priestess and Forcemaster:
--Priestess heals and brings the creatures, Forcemaster buffs and debuffs.
--Forcemaster uses Battleforge and mind spells, Priestess brings Temples (including Dawnbreaker) and condition-removal.
Necromancer and Necromancer:
--Focus on zombies. 8 Zombie Brutes by turn 10? Have fun!
--Have one use a Battleforge and pack doubles of the best equipment, including Necro-only gear.
--Make sure someone brings out the Ziggurat.
Straywood and Johktari:
--Make heavy usage of the totem conjurations.
--Johktari uses Lair and builds slowly, sniping as she goes. Straywood uses Battleforge and plays aggressively.
Druid and Priestess:
--Best turtle mages in the game, working together.
--Use Vine Tree and Temple of Asyra. Have at least one Battleforge as well.

Priestess with Divine Intervention used with Enchantment transfusion + <insert cheeze combo>

Warlock & Necromancer ...... like this!

Double (more or less) mirror matches might be interesting, e.g.
- Straywood and Priest vs. Johktari and Priestess
- one of the Warlords and one of the Warlocks together against the other Warlord and Warlock
-
It's occurred to me that after Forged in Fire the Priestess and the Warlord will team up very nicely with each other. If you can space out your Conjurations right they can both play down an Armory giving all their soldiers +2 Armor and +2 Piercing.
-
Except that Armory is Unique, so they could only have one of them in the Arena for their team. Although having two mages benefiting from the Armory would be a lot better than one anyways.
-
Priest and lady warlock. His ability to heal himself and her plus his ability to cause burn works perfectly with her ability move burn tokens and burn. Not good thematically but could work as a good team in 2v2.
-
I'm surprised no one mentioned Skeletal Necro + (Bloodwave preferably) Warlord. Both can summon skeletal soldiers from spawnpoints and have spells/abilities that support them.
-
warlord + warlord
warlord + necro
warlord + Priest(ess)
...
The warlord is an epic mage. His biggest disadvantage is that he needs a big setup time for his conjurations to work. In team battles your ally can buy you time/support you.
I believe that warlord will be THE strongest mage in team battles. Hands down!
-
Nah... Twice as many wizzards is twice as unbalanced. :P
-
I´ve been playing a lot of 2+2, even 1 vs 2 where the lonely guy controls 2 mages/spellbooks.
You don´t need to build specifically or team play to have fun.
Soldiers are great fun and a frightening combo as well.
We tend to play on a 4*4 arena, which doesnt leave that much room for conjurations.
I can even recomend 3 vs 3 :)

I think that a Straywood & a Warlord would break the game. They are great swarmers and together can overwhelm the opponent so bad. However, you would need to more action marker packs just to keep up with that team. please give opinion.

you should really stop begging for feedback ???
Anyway, In other treads you can read about anti-swarm stuff. There are plenty of ways to counter one so I don't think it would be overpowered. Apart from that, the necro is even better in swarming.
Swarming also costs a lot of mana so both of them would be pretty mana drained to support them.
I think 1 swarming mage + 1 supporting mage is MUCH more potent then 2 swarmers.
