Title: Essen 2014
Post by: fas723 on July 02, 2014, 07:29:38 AM
Hi,
After some long discussions last year AW unfortunately decided to not go official to Essen, just travel there and check if the fair was something for AW in 2014.
Have you considered this yet? Booth, Tournament, ect?
As ambassador in Sweden I would gladly help out during the fair if you guys need and decide to participate.
Thanks!

...and i would definitely come and visit ! I'm stalking AW and MW on their FB pages since last year...just to get them over at SPIEL in 2014.  My game buddy and i visited SPIEL last year, hoping we would see bryan pope or other people from AW...and we were off course hoping to score some promo cards, like the guys in the US do...

Please consider this AW ! Come on tox, we want to meet you in Europe ! There is a community of mages over here !

Don't forget there is also the Arnhem group, around 14 mages, Zoetemeer in The Netherlands and Amsterdam who would also be interested.  It is now a year after Mage Wars came out in German at Essen,  now would be the time to strike.

Even though I am not an official Ambassador, I would be happy to help or organize help from our enthusiastic group.

Come to Essen AW.  There are plenty of other American designers and or distributors there as well

I agree, last year, i was pretty sad when i discover true form of MW on essen spiel 2013. This game deserves more! :)

It would be cool to be able to get signed my rule book by its creators or just chat face to face. I am ambasador from czech republic and my german/deutch skills are *censored* :) But if there would be any possibility how to help, i will gladly do it :)

I live in Essen, I was there last year and all I could have bought was the german version of the core set in which i have no interest. Really hoped to see you guys there (or any other mage for duel) but got totally let down  :'(

My wounds are deep and my heart still broken. AW, fix it this year :D

Come on! It is like saying the Swedish flag is equal Brazil just because they share the same colors.  ;D
Let's go Germany and win the football game tonight! (note; real football)

Maybe we should arrange a meet up if AW isn't planning to be there?

I like the idea, but Essen is not a place with any space for free gaming

Sooo, do we know something new? Will there be AW present at this year EssenSpiel ? Or at least, if they are thinking about it :)

I think they are fully concentrated on GenCon.  But there is always hope

So, Gen Con is almost apon us.  Arcane Wonders will be there in all their glory, but still no word about about Essen in Germany.  Don't forget all the European players AW.

Hi Everyone,

Unfortunately, we won't be attending Essen in person.  Our games will be there of course, with local retailers selling them onsite, and we even have a few people who will be demoing Sheriff o Nottingham as it's release is October 10th.

If there are local ambassadors that could potentially assist (as mentioned above by fas723) and an ability to coordinate a tournament, I'd love to chat with you guys about it.  Please email me at ScottMorris[at]arcanewonders.com and we can discuss it in detail to see if/how we can work something out.

Great to get a response Scott.  Last year the only mage wars was in German, will that be the same this year, or will English distributors also be around.?

Good question.  I'm not sure on that.  I know we have European partners and German partners that have English version.  If they are bringing them to Essen or not, or if their customers (the retailers) will, but I know they exist there.

Do you guys see more localized language versions than English versions normally (like just in shops)?

Last year I manly saw the german one, but some english versions of the core game have been spotted too.
In the shops besides the booth, there are just the Pegasus/german versions :(

Now I went looking specifically and English ones were very hard to find. Any displays or demos were German. The german distributors made a big thing of it.  So far as I know Mage Wars is still rather unknown around Europe apart from Germany.  Here in the Netherlands it is a small but growing enthusiastic group of people.  Of course Essen is the place to promote for Europe.  Perhaps next year AW?

If any of the distributors are planning to make a big thing this year of Mage Wars we could drum up some support.

Well, last year there were mostly german core sets to see. Pegasus spiel was the only one who have their german version unpacked and promoted but it was just one table with two spellbooks and a guy who seems to me that he learned how to play it but it is not a regular player.

In my country we do pretty well. There are pockets of players but still, mage wars is not that well known as it should be. I hope that mw academy will largly change that because of its lower costs when comes to enther the etheria for a first time.

Excuse my english. I am at vacation having the biggest hangover in my life having a hunchnthere is sikverclaw grizzly in the bathroom...
