Hi everyone! Just wanted to introduce myself on here. Really love the game but haven't been able to play very much. I see a lot of you guys play on octgn and I'll hope to get on there to learn and play soon.
I had a question before jumping in though. I have all the arena stuff but none of the academy stuff. When people play arena are there a lot of key or important cards from the academy set people use frequently? Is it a good pick up if you don't plan on playing academy because you would always rather play arena? Or do arena books tend to get along with just the rare academy card?
Thanks!

There are a few really good academy cards in arena.
Arcane Ward
Crumble
Disperse
Remove Curse
Lots of the creatures

The academy cards are very useful in Arena, and I use them very frequently in all of my decks. (although not all and some are weak)
I think my core mages (with academy expansions) all have around 15-20 points academy now.

Hey man! Welcome to the forums
There are a ton of useful Academy cards out there. I know a lot of people view academy as sweet expansions for arena.
Anyway if you go on octgn feel free to msg me for a game!

I don't find much value in using Academy cards in my Arena games. Since Academy is simply a 'close in' single zone battle the cards are all designed for that type of battle. When you add them to Arena style play I find it over emphasizes the single zone combat nature of an Arena match. For example, there is no move action in Academy so spells that change movement effects are not included in Academy products.
I will say that I am likely in the minority on this view so YMMV.

Thanks for the input! Looks like I'll be picking up academy pretty soon and getting on OCTGN.
Thanks
