I am planning to go to Origins this year instead of GenCon. Will there be MW events at Origins this year? Event submission is going on now.
If no one else is planning to do something, I can offer to run something if you all like.

Have events been planned for Origins now? I'd like to know whether I should avoid scheduling events in particular time slots once they open.

Yes they have been planned. However, this week Tony is at GAMA Trade Show and so I'm not sure what times.

I just went through the Origins worksheet... I only see Academy this year.
Why no Arena events? I planned to go to Origins in particular to play MW Arena.

They had no origins Mage Wars tournament at all last year...

Really? That just seems odd. There is a big board game focus there.
The reason that I didn't offer to help set something up was because it sounded as if AW was going to be running events.
Anyone going to show up who wants to schedule some games informally? Feel free to PM me, if so.

I see Mage Wars Academy on a Thursday and a Saturday. Are these two separate tournaments? Or is one the elimination rounds and the other the semifinals and finals? Or something?

The four events that I see in the workbook are all called "Mage Wars Academy Play to Win!" These are set up for two hours at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on 6/16 and 6/18. There is nothing else that I can find related to Mage Wars.

I don't want to pay for other events and then find out that there really is a tournament.

There is no Arena tournament. The event listings on the event grid should be correct. We have Academy play to win events and an Onitama tournament.

So "play to win" does not mean an Academy tournament? What does it mean? Is it like what happened with Domination last year where anybody who beat you at the game won a copy of the set?

Each event is 4 people. The winner will get a copy of the game (the one used during the event).

I'd like to set aside some time to get in some Arena games with people I don't usually play.
Anyone want to play? Let me know when and I'll try not to schedule then.
If I get everything that I'm looking at right now, my busy times will be:
6/15 1800-2000
6/16 0900-1700
6/17 1200-2100
6/18 0900-1700
So, right now, it looks like I'll have Friday morning for a few hours, and Thursday and/or Saturday evening (probably after I get something to eat). I'll have to check with my ride to see when we will be leaving... so I am not sure about Sunday morning.

I will be free most of the day on Thur as well as Sat morning/early afternoon. I could maybe do a game or two in the evening but I will most likely be busy.

Nah that's a good enough answer. For anyone else who wants to know, whatsapp is a phone/texting app that uses internet connection and works on a computer as well as a phone.
