After that I sort of....space out for an hour.  Yeah, I just stare at my desk, but it looks like I'm working. I do that for probably another hour after lunch too.  I'd say in a given week I probably only do about fifteen minutes of real, actual, work.   8)

Player Feedback and Suggestions / Re: Review of Forged in Flame
« on: July 30, 2014, 02:31:16 PM »
Ok, so I'm probably going to catch flak for this but.....

Did anyone notice that you can do this nifty little opening with the Warlock:

[19] T1: Sprint to NC, cast [mwcard=MW1J04]Battle Forge[/mwcard] (11)
[20+1] T2: Full Cast [mwcard=MW1J06]Gate to Hell[/mwcard] FC ( 8 )
[17+2] T3: Deploy: [mwcard=MW1Q16]Leather Gloves[/mwcard], Full Cast [mwcard=MWSTX2FFC04]Cerberus[/mwcard]

Not competitive, but for casual play that's pretty boss.   8)

Website Support and Feedback / Updated conditions list
« on: July 30, 2014, 10:35:07 AM »
Hey guys.  Love the website but as I was printing off the rules today for a friend I noticed that the conditions list only includes the original conditions in the Core Set.  It would be great to get an updated quick reference with all the conditions from the expansions to keep handy.  Thanks, and keep up the great work!

Strategy and Tactics / Re: Getting Altar of Skulls Going?
« on: July 30, 2014, 08:58:55 AM »
is easy when u fight a water wizard... but now everyone use that force hammer.... so the altar of skull and the walls are over.... :(

A Mage Wand bound with Reassemble goes a long way towards keeping your walls up which buys your Altar time.  I faced down multiple Force Hammers, Akiro's Hammers and Hurl Boulders the other day and only lost 1 wall section and took a little damage on the Altar but nothing major.  Acolyte also reconstructs before she is poisoned to death and Mort can be nice as a combination defender + healer for the Altar.

Spellbook Design and Construction / Re: Where angels dare....
« on: July 29, 2014, 01:15:50 PM »
My buddy plays the Priestess with a lot of angels coming from [mwcard=MW1J23]Temple of Asyra[/mwcard].  I jokingly call it the Air Force deck because he spams Grey Angels like they are going out of style.  Usually can get two of those out, then maybe take a round off and follow up with a fatty like [mwcard=MW1C39]Valshalla, Lightning Angel[/mwcard].  I've been beating him with my Necro shutting down his ability to heal but it is certainly a  viable plan.

The problem, I think, is that for the cost they don't hit as hard or last as long as other options.  Adding armor helps, but if you can't heal them to keep them around longer they lose a lot of their potency.  [mwcard=MW1J08]Hand of Bim-Shalla[/mwcard] is probably an auto-include in this deck for a spike in offense/armor as needed.

Hawkeye can only target Living Creatures.

Why god...why?  *sobs*

Oh well....a Necromancer can dream. can't he?

New name for memoir: Do Necromancers dream undead sheep?    :D

Edit:  sIKE just pointed out that Hawkeye is only good for the living...so back to the drawing board on that one.  FP is still a winner though and that + Armory will do for now.

In: Hawkeye x 1
     Fortified Position x 1

Out: Sniper Shot x 2
        Power Strike x 1

Can probably lose the other command incantations and 1 piece of armor, other than that the book is pretty tight and does exactly what I want it to do.  Won my 1st game last night without being touched, 2nd game against same opponent we withstood multiple Akiro's Hammers, Hurl Boulders and Force Hammers and still won on the back of Archer + Altar.  Reassemble on a Mage Wand while rocking Cloak of Shadows is just amazing.  Next addition will probably be the Armory after I pick up FiF.

Another fun show and props on the Big Trouble in Little China intro!  Tell 'em the checks in the mail.

Interestingly enough, I have been working on perfecting a Necro book based around the Altar as well so it was interesting to hear thoughts on that.  After listening I played my Altar book twice against a Priestess and then Bloodwave Warlord and it performed really well though I am switching it around to include Hawkeye because Skeletal Archer as Undying Servant in the Archer's Watchtower with Hawkeye is just brutal...especially behind a Wall of Bones.  Also.... MOAR FORTIFIED POSITION!!!!

Keep up the great work guys, can't wait for the next installment.

Woot woot!  As if waiting for 5:00 wasn't bad enough, now there is this tantalizing beauty to look forward to.  At least I'll have something to listen to while I do the dishes tonight.   8)

Take 2:

The addition of Archer's Watchtower shakes things up.  Now we are going for a siege style victory with Archer on the Tower shooting over our walls, Poison clouds and Teleport Traps to protract the siege and Knights + Mort to hold the entrance if they breach.  Really stoked to try this out and fiddle with the Incantation choices as I'm not 100% on those yet.  Wraiths can pop through walls, Ghoul is there to clean up and become a secondary threat and is especially potent if we bind Teleport.

My only remark would be a lightly dressed elf girls holding a cards with a number, which round it actually is, like it is in boxing :)

Now that would get me to subscribe.   :P

Strategy and Tactics / Re: Aggressive use of spawnpoints
« on: July 25, 2014, 09:41:30 AM »
Definitely agree with the points already made about Vine Tree and Libro, both can be incredible aggressive.  I would also say that a Turn 1 Move, Gate to Voltari + Harmonize in NC can be very aggressive as well.  I did this last night then followed up with an Elemental Wand bound with Thunderbolt on my Wizard to start sniping into my opponents starting corner.  This allowed me to summon a Gorgon Archer extremely early to keep pressuring him and the game was over fairly quickly.

Thanks for continuing these LoW.  Like others have said, I love having game play videos available, so I appreciate you going through the effort of making/posting these.

When all else fails, throw fire at their face!   ;D

I don't know which player you are but I was rooting for the Priestess to pull off the comeback so I was disappointed when he gave it away, but it was a good game none the less.  Did raise a couple of questions to me about the game in general, though, namely about aggression vs. the long game and playing to win as opposed to playing to not lose.

Good stuff, gents!

Archers Watchtower+Skeletal Archer to shoot over your Wall of Bone is good too

A man after my own heart!   :P  This is exactly the kind of stuff I want to do.

Thanks everyone!  And if there were any skeletal horses, you best believe those bronies would be in here!

The soldier suggestions are all going to get a look once I pick up FM vs. WL (hopefully after next paycheck!) and the idea behind the Plague Zombie + Sacrificial Altar is that they are to be my suicide bombers.  Run in, pop poison wherever I can to start corrupting while the Knights advance under cover of the Archers.  I realized looking back I probably need some additional counter magic as well (ie Dispel) and the creature numbers could definitely be tweaked, but it should be a fun one.
