Other than my intense desire to do a pop culture mashup and rename this guy Ashton Klandathu, he looks pretty awesome.  Arcane + Dark makes me squee.

Thanks for the update.  Art is fantastic and that flavor text is top notch.  I want to Bear up a Goblin Grunt now.  And I will love him and hug him and name him Torkk.   ;D

Yeah, in addition to creating and distributing an amazing game, their support and interaction with the community is a big part of why I will happily support anything AW puts out.  It's really a breath of fresh air in a world populated with companies that will push the bottom line often at the expense of their customers.

Strategy and Tactics / Re: How to beat zombie necromancer?

I had to zap my own Hydra to get damage on it, then push it forward to keep all of my opponent's zombies off me.

And it's plays like this that keep me coming back for more!  Is it 5:00 yet?  :P

So I played a version of a [mwcard=FWQ09]Sectarus, Dark Rune Sword[/mwcard] book yesterday with the inclusion of the Fireball Wand/Cloak combo and it was devastating.  My opponent immediately backed off once he saw the Rune Sword/[mwcard=MW1Q28]Ring of Curses[/mwcard] T1.  T2 Wand/Cloak let me keep pace with him without fear of retaliation and start popping [mwcard=MW1A04]Fireball[/mwcard]s which forced the issue and got him to move into sword range and a QC  [mwcard=MW1Q05]Demonhide Armor[/mwcard] punished him for trying to swarm me.  It was over pretty quickly.

I don't know, as a previous MtG and Heroclix player, Mage Wars isn't that complicated.  I mean sure there are combos and fun things you can exploit which makes the game awesome, but when you step back and realize there are only 357 unique cards in the game, many restricted to certain schools, the ceiling isn't nearly as daunting as in those other games with thousands of possible combinations.  That said, I will never turn up my nose at getting more.  I love this game!   ;D

Strategy and Tactics / Re: Adramalech warlock and the gate to hell
« on: August 06, 2014, 07:58:43 AM »
I tried it the gate to hell is so worthless great concept but a bad card

Agreed Barrie, just too expensive (both mana and points wise) for basically a +1 to demons (which the helmet does that for me and cheaper). I really don't see myself using that AOE (why not just use a real fire spell like ring of fire that I can target with?). I just can't justfy the cost for my Warlockess.

First, Gate to Hell is not too expensive.

Mana wise, point wise and effect wise, it is the equivalent of a Garrison Post (pre-errata) + Rajan's Fury (better than it in fact since +1 melee > +1 piercing) + 2 Flameblast.

So if you hit more than 2 creatures with it it get even cheaper.

The only thing this card need is an errata like Garrison to allow spawnpoints to summon onto it.

+1 to this.  Awesome suggestion about the spawnpoints, though without testing I'm not sure if that would make it right or too good.  Still, interesting proposition.

Ok I've no idea what mage you're using but here are a few ideas.

-Get on that Necromancer immediately. The Force Master, Arraxian Warlock, and Anvil Throne Warlord are all superb melee fighters and can get the hurt on him quick. The Beast Masters likewise can as well.
-Use Mongoose Agility to just ignore his guards and brutes in general. Guards mean nothing to Elusive. Likewise if you're using a Beast Master bring out Cervere.
-Use Tangle Vines to tie up the big dog zombies for a while. If you're a Druid then those Vine Tokens can also slow them down thus negating the Fast benefit(mostly) from Zombie Frenzy.
-Get a Wand of Healing to remove Taint and a lot of armor. Zombies with the exception of the one that grows don't hit for that much. Get a Veterans Belt too.
-Use the Suppression Orb and Modoks Obelisk if you got the spell points and aren't using a creature heavy book. It's amazing what this does to ones Mana.
-Walls can control the flow of zombies very effectively. Especially walls with a good bit of health and some armor like Wall of Stone and Wall of Steel. Wall of Fire can actually kill Zombie Crawlers in one hit if you get lucky. Caltrips an Hellfire Traps also can damage them. Remember Burn tokens are your friend with zombies.
-Chains of Agony and Agony work on Zombies. In fact Chains of Agony works VERY well on the slow little buggers.
-If you're a Warlock put the Demonhide armor on. The damage barrier is only one die but it is Critical.

Fantastic post from SCGrizzly here, I will just add that having a few heavy hitters with extra dice vs. Undead/Dark like [mwcard=DNC06]Kralathor, The Devourer[/mwcard] and [mwcard=MW1C31]Samandriel, Angel of Light[/mwcard] can do a lot of heavy lifting for you.
